How light do you want to go?
Peroxide is harsh on your hair and if you are not careful...it can "fry" your hair.
Also, have you tried a wash-out tint/hair color? Miss Clairol has some good wash-outs. Experiment and enjoy!
I have medium/auburn brown and sometimes use Navajo Bronze (#13) by Miss Clairol. I love that it's a wash out (about a month)...and it doesn't fry my hair.

Wow that brings me back in time. I was not allowed to color my hair when I was 13 yrs old, so I decided to pour hydrogen peroxide on my dry hair, and blow dry it and indeed it made me a blonde. I did this every day until I got the color I wanted. I would recommend cutting a decent size strand of hair and try it out as a swatch. It may only turn orange, like it did to one of my friends. I am not recommending you do the peroxide thing. That would be irresponsible of me since now I am a Managing Cosmetologist.

you need to use bleach and developer a 30 or 40 with brown hair a toner to cancel out brassiness (yellow orange) this is a big job as a cosmetologist i would HIGHLY recommend getting this done professionally so it doesn't become a color correction problem . but start with a full head of highlights slowly become blonde so it looks more healthy and natural the roots want show up as much so you wont have to touch it up so often also protein treatments to strengthen the hair becoming blonde is very damaging

It's harsh stuff so don't do it if you have hair in a bad way. I would say if you want a decent colour blonde get it done professonally as all the home jobs I have seen look a bit brassy.

Yes, it will. It will get lighter if you combine heat with the peroxide as well. Definitly not good for your hair though.
