She's 14 mo, same age as mine, and she screams as soon as her mom says "bye bye". Is there anything I can do to comfort her??? Rocking and singing won't work. Music doesn't help either.

She wants her mother, try to divert her attention, by using toys, bookscolours, take her out for a walk or for a drive, try to give her something to eat.

you could try getting off the computer first of all. love her. comfort her. most effectively--make her laugh!!!! babies esp. toddlers LOVE to laugh. try putting a rubber duckie or some other small toy on your head and sneeze really loud and make the duckie fall. my daughter thinks thats the funniest thing. go for a drive. i dont know a baby who doesnt love a good drive--guaranteed to put them to sleep. dont say the mommy or bye bye words. do not let her talk to mommy on the phone this will only upset baby.

Three words for you - DVD.

Now normally I'm not a proponent for the digital babysitter, the boob tube, the idiot box, whatever you want to call it, but I'll be damned if it doesn't work every single time! Even us nannies need a second of peace to finish the dishes, move the laundry, or run to the potty ourselves, and that's what the TV's used for when I'm around.

I have one word for you.... ELMO!

I have two dvds and when nothing else works we flip on Elmo and there is something about that red hairy monster that kids just love.

Or, tell the mom not to make a big deal about leaving and get the little one involved in something fun just before mom leaves. Maybe a favorite snack or a favorite toy.

unfortunately, the only thing that will stop her is time. you could try to distract her with the tv, but if she takes a nap, she should be in a better mood and more receptive to you. She just feels abandoned right now, and doesn't understand that mommy really will come back..

try going to the playground or pool or whatever outside activity u can do where you are. Play is the easiest way to get their attention away from "WHERE'S MY MOMMY??" lol =)

Put her in a room and shut the door and let her cry herself to sleep.. peak in and check on her but that is what I would do!

Do not let her know that her mother is gone. Take her in another room and play with her when her mother leaves, and she won't even know she's gone.

Make her laugh! Play peekaboo or something. Make funny faces!
