I have a 1995 Nissan 200SX andI failed emissions because my (CO) tested at 3.08 when the maximum reading can only be 1.20 (it passed on the idle reading). I realize that this is very high and was wondering if anybody had an idea as to what I need to do about it. Thanks!

You might fix this problem by buying an aftermarket catalytic converter. Factory ones are way over priced. I got one for $100 and had a welding shop weld it on. They had the converter that I needed, call any welding shop that does exhaust systems. Try not to go to Midas or big chain, stick with an independent, local shop.

I am going to have to know what the other exhaust gas amounts are to narrow it down. High CO can be leaking injectors or bad fuel pressure regulator leaking into the manifold by way of the small hose. As always change the oil before testing (fuel from short trips in crankcase) and fully warm up the motor to get what is left of the cat converter working. Engine coolant temp sensor can be reading wrong too.

Tune-Up (including 02 Sensor) Oil change, Air filter & Catalytic

all effect emissions.

Be sure that attention has been give to all of them.

Since you passed low readings and not high, you may want

to take your car into a muffler shop and have them check your

exhaust system.
