Depends on the "stuff" which is there on the CD and the format of that "stuff". If you are talking about a Audio CD bought from a music store, most DVD players can play them.

I asked this question about a month ago, and the the answer is yes in most cases. Try sticking the cd in your dvd player and see. It should work.

Yes, most can. this is called backwards compatibility.
A product that can also still use the older technology, it was based on.
Like ps2 playing ps1 games, logical, yes, but the same was not true of other games consoles. This was actually a selling/marketing point of playstation, that while others found new, better technology, and stuff the old console, sony always made each console play the older games.
A good question, particularly relavent, coming up to Christmas, with all those electrical bargains...how many will work or be compatible with all the "new" technology in the new year!

Most modern DVDs are able to read CDs check the specifications before you buy, on the front of the DVD it usually states what kind of discs the DVD can play.

All dvd players can play cds but only newer ones can play burned cds.

Most can. It actually takes a different laser to do it, but nearly all of them have that laser included. Most will actuall list it on the box. Anything that says CD-R, CD-RW, mp3, or JPG will read a CD.

DVDs can play CDs with pictures on too - shows it like a slideshow on your TV - bad news for people who hate watching holiday snaps...

i put a cd in my dvd player to listen to and a mate who is 38 said wow didn't know you could do that ..... so don't worry not everyone knows that
