It depends upon your interest and what your community offers... there is always hospitals who have children or geriatric wings in which you can be of assistance, nursing homes, rehab hospitals, hospice, etc.

If you want to work with animals, there are alwys shelters and many horseback riding places and dolphin centers offer programs for special needs students to interract withthese animals. They are always in need of help.

THere is meals on wheels, there is collecting clothing etc. for salvation army, there are churches or synogogues taht can always use your assistance.

If your interest is more theatrical there are always non-profit theater groups tat can use help with PR, fund raising costumes, etc.

Become a Big Brother or Big Sister. Become a Mentor. Help feed the needy. Organize clothing drives and food drives. Volunteer work at your church, or nearest Salvation Army or Goodwill, are some positive ideas, along with volunteering at your local YMCA.

Visit and read to folks in nursing homes. Volunteer at a homeless shelter.
Help at the humane society.
Pick up trash on the roadways.

Clean roadsides, or visit the elderly would be my choices
