To anyone that has attended Pharmacy School, how hard is it compared to Pre-Pham classes, this probably various from school to school and which professors you have, but just in general. Are the classes about the same? Since most sciences build off of each other, Im thinking they might be about the same. What type of classes did you have to take? I know a lot of science stuff but specifically which type of chemistry and bio exc.

Im also curious as to what gpa you had when you got accepted into Pharmacy school, thanks

yeah most schools have a gpa average of about 3.5 so thats what im aiming for. I dont think you have to have a 3.5 in pharmacy school though, I actually read on that Ferris website that their pharmacy students are only required to keep above a C in the school, but a 3.6 average to get accepted. So that classes may be a bit harder but you dont have to make A's in all of them...

I work in a pharmacy and graduated the technician program, I also work with an intern who will graduate this fall from Ferris State. In Michigan, they have 2 schools really to chose from, and it is slim pickings for who they take. If you maintain a 3.5 or above they will look. They have cut down the ammount of students dramatically in the last few years. I took some of the pre requisite classes, and let me say this, from what I have seen from the intern and my pharmacists' I work under..those classes are like the common suckers before you get to the double chocolate fudge. Night and day, Black and white...they really let you get into the nitty gritty of chemical structures and interactions for each class of drug, then they get deeper and go with each drug. research it very close. Know what you are in for, talk to an intern who is in his or her last few years. They will be able to guide you.

I had a roommate who was in pharmacy and he graduated. According to him, the pharmacy classes are harder then the pre-pharmacy classes, but not unreasonably harder. Also, getting into pharmacy school is very hard. He said that if you are smart enough to get a good GPA with your pre-pharmacy classes to get into pharmacy school, then you probably have what it takes to succeed in pharmacy school. I think his GPA was over 3.5 when he applied to pharmacy school.

Pharmacy school was (and remains) much tougher than pre-Pharmacy. The same can be said of any 'pre' major I'll bet.
