Why do some family members (not just immediate family) talk about other family members behind their backs?

Ohhhh I understand where you`re coming from. "Meddeling Aunts" run in my family.
I don`t know why they do it. It must be a control issue. My advice is to always keep your distance and don`t give personal information that isn`t neccesary.

Mostly because they are too scared to say what they think to the person's face, so they just go behind their back and talk. Some people do it to be malicious, while others do it because they are concerned and need to talk about whats going on with another family member. Either way, they should just talk to the person rather than go behind their back.

Because everyone has their own agendas.
Not everyone knows the truth.
Not everyone cares about the truth.
Not everyone tells the truth.
Not everyone loves one another.
In fact, most of them hate one another.

In my personal experience, all my family save my parents and sister are 800 miles away.
No one liked my father.
My mom was 16 when she married him.
He tried to make them see him for who he was.
They never did, and 10 years ago we moved away, so he could make more money.
Now they say he is "the reason we're trailer trash."
He has done nothing but strive for us.
They know nothing.
Don't let what people say about you define you.
Define yourself.

Good question, I guess cause it's family you figure everyone else knows that blood runs through your veins and people are saying the same about you..the one doing the talking...
