Ok first of all i like to state im not racist and i respect all religions equally. My question is your prophet Muhammed said to spread the word of islam by the sword. Meaning kill people if they do not convert to islam. I know the pope has recently stated this as evil and it recieved controversy from islamic leaders. But i would like to know how can you say that forcing people to convert to islam by threatning to kill them isint evil?

I am not a Muslim, but I think I know the answer. In there faith, there is no such thing as an evil act if you are doing it to spread or defend the faith. Thus the passages in the Quran that talk about ambushing infidels, killing them by any means, etc. This plays out today in the fact of Islamic terror, where they hold the position that if they die killing others, that God will reward them. If a filmmaker makes a movie critical of Islam, you can and should kill that movie maker to defend the faith. And if some cartoonist mocks the Prophet, he should be killed, again, to defend Islam.

ok,I see that you have misunderstood some thing big time,Prophet Mohammed (pbuh),was a peacful man,he never said kill.As a matter of fact, the Torah and Bible is accepted as a book of Allah as well,Christians and Jews are accepted by Allah. You ar suppose to set an example, there is no point forcing someone convert into Islam if they do want to,where is the logic in that?Islam says,be Muslim for yourself, not you parents or a loved one as when you die,you will be in front of you lord and judged on your own.
There would be logic in forcing someone

In the Name of Allah, the Benificent, the Merciful

God says in Quran in the following verse:

"Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects Taghut (evil) and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trust worthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things. " (Qur'an 2:256)

Do you think Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would disobey God? It is clearly stated in the verse above that cannot force your religion to anybody. So it is not true that Prophet threatened to kill people if they didn't convert. He gave choice to all non-muslims who were living under Islamic law to either accept Islam and not pay tax, or to stay as a non-muslims and pay tax. Since Muslims already pay zakat (a form of tax on their income) non-muslims had to pay a tax for their protection. That means this tax is paid for their protection, muslims have to protect them from all the outside attack. There were cases in history when non-muslims suffered attacks from invading forces and Muslims had to give back their tax money, because they failed to protect them.

Due to Muslims upright morality, some non-muslims who lived under Kings even longed for Muslims to come and remove their corrupt governements and replace it with Islamic Caliphate so that they could live peacefully. If you read history books you will find many examples of this kind.

I believe the person who is preaching to others that prophet Muhammad (pbuh) preached Islam by sword and threatened to kill anybody who does not accept Islam is trying to mislead people. Please read this book if you need more info on Prophet's biography.

That's what the bible tells Christians to do too.

Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)

well as a Muslim, I know for sure that this is a misunderstanding if nothing more. Prophet Muhammad PBUH never said to spread Islam by the sword, he would take taxes from non-Muslims in his terriory but would leave them free, he always encouraged to impress non-Muslims by our behaviour and then to try and get them to believe that Islam is the correct religion. There is nothing in Islam or its Koran that says that. In fact, one of Muslims' often repeated quotes from the Koran is "Lakom deenakom wa leya deeny" which means "You have your religion and I have mine." When Mohamed re-entered Mecca, the homeland he had to leave because of being persecuted for spreading Islam, the Meccans were expecting him to force them into Islam or kill them but what he said was "You are free." People of all faiths lived in peace in places where Islam was dominant and the existence of these people in these places proves that Islam was neither forced on them nor were they killed for not converting. Feel free to check this fact in any unbiased historical reference.

I am not a Muslim, but! What do you say about the Catholic Church and the Inquisition? What do you say about the Catholic Church and the thousands upon thousands of people killed across Europe and the Mid-east with the Crusades? They were killing everyone who was not a Christian, and even many Christians as they would not take the time to ask what faith a person was. It was kill, kill, kill. This was the bloodiest time of history.

They protest anything, anywhere, anybody even the pope when he was reading a newspaper. However they find it impossible to protest when a young muslim girl got her head sawed off because she didn't marry an old man who bought her. Afganistan
they never protested when the world trade center was blow up and 3000 died. Now 3000 almost young men have died to bring them democracy. Have they protested the killing of all those people.? Have they ever spoke out against hamas, hexbollah, or the group in Africa who captured 30,000 children to use as sex slaves. Why didn't they protest that? That was obscene, chopping off arms and legs and heads. Raping women and little girls. Durfer is genocide of the native people? that didn't bring a protest, no one burned a flag or an efigy?
What you choose to protest suprises me!
