Unfortunately the American education system is a piece of crap and is being further eroded by the current administration by a policy of dumbing down. The American people are members of the richest third world country on the planet. They have no free decent education, no free quality healthcare, no assistance in times of financial or health difficulties.
I feel that a country as rich and as powerful as the USA should look after its own people. It spends more on jails than on schools. That should answer your question. Its sad.

OK, to help prove your point, I'm going to quote earlier answers.
"British butt was kicked out from all over the world. Now they live on their dreary wet-like-a-diaper Island and call it Great Britain, LOSERS!!!!!"
Now, this is an example of what we commonly call a ****. Not only that, he is both ignorant, arrogant and thinks it's cool to use five exclamation marks.
He obviously cannot understand that we could have lost our empire without being beaten in war over and over. We gave up the empire out of free will, hence why the commonwealth still exists today, which includes almost all former colonies, who still accept the Queen as head of state and have very strong and friendly political links with the UK. That we even had an empire says something about Britain, something that the US cannot hope to accomplish.
(And for your information 'hghghghg', we always lived in Britain, it isn't just NOW. And so what if it rains allot, we still have much better weather than many parts of your sodding country. Weather doesn't mean bugger all.)
"go see a dentist!"
Yea, I'd like to point out that we have dental care paid for (to an extent) by the NHS, while you have to pay for it all yourselves. Our dental care is some of the best in the world. At least the 'Americans are fat, arrogant gits' stereotype has some basis. Ignorance and arrogance.
"americans are smarter we dont marry our first cousins."
Wow, neither do we. I'm pretty sure that's illegal anyway, aside from social stigma. Ignorance and arrogance again.
"Attacking em placed expert American rifle men during two wars by wearing red and walking in a straight line.-----Brilliant!"
This sentence doesn't even make proper sense due to a poor command of grammar. Besides, in both wars the British troops were better trained and equipped. That you won either is mostly to do with you fighting on home soil, with more soldiers. If we hadn't been fighting the French at the time that might have made matters different. Again, we get the ignorance factor, with more than a dash of arrogance.
So, in conclusion, we find that many of the Americans here seem determined to prove you right. I'm sure most are thoroughly decent people, but these people have done nothing to prove that. In fact, those I quoted have proved the ignorance, arrogance and rudeness stereotypes we have of them. None of said things make them look very smart at all, the opposite in fact.
That only 40% of Americans believe in evolution (the rest thinking God did it) and a third believe man never landed on the moon speaks for itself too.

Well coming from a Brit I would just like to add my two cents worth and say I would rather have a yank as a friend than a bloody idiot like some on here.
And just coz I am biased I will say us Brits are the highly intelligent species, closely followed by my American friends....

I haven't killed anyone. I know that I am superior to no one. I was raised to be polite. This is a very large country. How many millions of people live here? No all of us voted for that *** hole in the white house. I would love to meet you and I would show you respect, as would most of my countrymen.
