I have both of these symptoms, and I constantly feel really, really down. I mean, I smile and have fun all of the time, but I always have this weird, guilty feeling.
I always feel bad when I'm having fun, because I feel as though I don't deserve to have a good time.
I'm known for being loud, funny and carefree, but I feel as though I have this bottomless hole in my stomach that just collects guilt and negative thoughts. I'm not content with myself, and to be perfectly honest, I dislike people who remind me of myself.
I rarely eat, and I never really feel hungry. I thought that may be the reason why I'm tired all of the time, but I'm not sure. I'm enegetic at school, but when I get home I sort of crash, and act all moody.
Does this sound like depression? I don't want to unecessarily diagnose myself with something, but I don't think the way that I feel is normal.
What are the other signs of depression?
Thanks for your help.

The best answer to that question is found right on your computer. Go the the search Engine of your choice, I use "Google'" and type in, "depression symptoms," and you will find what you need. If you fit into the symptom answers, see an MD soon. They can start you on some medication, and depending on how bad it is, or why it is, they can get you started with depression counseling. There are several depression meds available. There is no "one" that works for everyone. Give it time to work, if it is prescribed. Depression doesn't happen over night....Healing doesn't either. If the first one doesn't work, and you don't feel any better after about two-three weeks, it may need to be changed to a stronger dose, or a different kind, and in severe cases, some people are taking two kinds at once. If you are not happy with what your doctor tells you, GET A SECOND OPINION! There is a joke, "What is the difference between God and doctors?" Give up? GOD DOESN'T THINK HE'S A DOCTOR...." Yes, some doctors think they ARE GOD. [Believe me! I have worked for some of them! = ) ] Before you see the doctor, if you ARE depressed, write down all the positive signs you found when you Googled it. Then you don't get all flustered when you see him. If you ARE depressed, you may very well end up crying when you talk with him, as you are very fragile by then, hence, WRITE ALL YOUR QUESTIONS/SYMPTOMS TO TAKE WITH YOU. And my advice is, don't talk to ANYONE else about going to see someone. Everyone will have "their own advice," and you don't need it. Keep everything to yourself til you are feeling better, or til someone TELLS you, that you seem happier, or look better, etc. Depression is a very, very private thing. NOT asking for help, is the biggest mistake some people make...and some....never get help....and it's "too late." I will keep you in my prayers...You say your prayers, too. You and God can do it, together!!!!!!

I suffer from depression and anxiety. Some of my most prominent symptoms are pretty much what you are describing. I have typically experienced a complete loss of appetite. My guilt feelings were what eventually led me to seek help. Psychiatrists are trained to watch for other possible problems. If your psychiatrist does not do "therapy," i.e., if he or she does not sit down and talk to you for at least half an hour at a time to learn something about you, get another psychiatrist.
By the way, definitely see a psychiatrist. It won't hurt, and it will probably help you.

The signs of depression are different for everyone. Your signs could be depression, yes, but they could also point to other possibilities. See a doctor. He'll order a full blood panel, and check your metabolic processes. Don't dismiss these feelings you have. Help is just around the corner.

There are several things that could account for your symptoms, depression is certainly one of them. If I were you, and your symptoms are interfering with your enjoyment of life, I would start with a trip to the doctor. Get blood work done to ensure that you aren't anemic, and that there are no irregularities that would indicate something other than depression. When all else is ruled out, it is time to see a psychiatrist to describe your symptoms and see what might best work to improve your quality of life.

yeah, these are both signs of depression.
they can appear alone or along with loss of libido, loss of interest, loss of things you used to enjoy. you may also experience irritability and a sense of frustration with people who you previously had a good relationship with.
if you have had any of these symptoms for more than two weeks without relief you should definitely visit your g.p. who will be able to offer you help.
good luck
