I've heard that hairspray will help stop it spreading as well as nail polish, or just rip em to shreds and make a statement!

Put a dab of clear nail polish over the place where the hose is running, that should stop it.

Well you will have to buy new ones. but for a quick fix clear nail polish will help it from getting more torn.
