Lets assume that you can take this passage literally.

Given this set start point. We would be able to also see that no one was given the authority to turn the bread and wine into flesh and blood except for Jesus.

He states no where in scripture that he has given this power to anyone else, so even if it were literal (its not) it would have been a one time thing.

We do it today as Jesus commanded, in remembrance of him. We cannot eat and drink him literally. We do it as he did, with bread and wine (juice etc).

Again, its about whats in your heart when you have communion with God, not what is in your cup or on your plate.

now youre touching on "transubstantiation"

that was proclaimed by Pope Innocent III, along with confession of sins to the priests in 1215.

This is yet another tradition instituted by man and not God. it is a misunderstanding of the verse you quoted. that is why so much emphasis is put on the Mass. youre salvation does not come from that... not through that work. only by the grace of God through Christ's redeeming blood on the cross (Eph. 2:8,9 & Titus 3:5 ff).

In John 3, Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again to see the Kingdom of God. Have you been born again, not through baptism which is a Catholic misunderstanding of the following verses, but through the Spirit to have eternal life?

This is clearly a spiritual reference. Even at the last supper Jesus used bread and with as symbolic reference to the actual flesh and blood. It is not supportable that the bread and the wine became actual blood and flesh... Jim

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you" (John 6:53)

It was symbolic.... geeze are you really this ignorant?

If you are referring to the "Bread of Life", well then, Jesus does not "Clearly" tell us to eat His flesh.

If you are referring more globally to the last supper then the act is recorded in Matthew chapter 26, Mark chapter 14 and Luke Chapter 22.

John doesn't record the last supper.... if you are going to quote the Bible to try and make your points.... at least do it accurately.

Do you think that maybe this is symbolic? Or do you believe that a corrupt priest actually has the power of God to turn wine into blood and wafer into body? Don't be naive.

Yes, it is SYMBOLIC, NOT LITERAL. Do you really believe and take that literally? If you do, you might want to consider another church. Religion is man made, not God made. Rituals, and good deeds don`t get you to Heaven. It`s a free gift of God not by works that no man should boast. Our good deeds are as filthy rags, says the Lord. By faith we are saved.

One has to take the whole chapter to understand the fullness of that word you plucked out of it! You must keep it in context according to the text. Jesus told his disciples the words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life! Yet there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. He went on to say, This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father enabled him.

This was the defining element to show who were and who were not Jesus' true disciples. These words are spirit and they are life, meaning that to be done and accomplished comes from a spiritual connotation. Jesus said to eat my flesh was to eat my life, my words, my activity, everything that I do digest, feast on it, let it fill your whole being. For they speak of who I came from! The Father. Jesus declared to them, unless the Father enabled you to come, you could not believe, and so many turned away in unbelief. Note the number of the verse: 6 ch. 66 verse. Quincidental. unbelief. Jesus statement was to show them that to become what He called them to become they would have to not only eat his flesh' which was a description of His Word, but also drink His blood, which was a description of His Life - for the life is in the blood. So the Israelites went to great care not to eat the blood that was in the animals according to the Levitical code. Yet we have Jesus say drink my blood. Alot of people believe this to reference to Passover meal and Holy Communion, yet this is not that its allusion is there but it is not the fulfillment of it. Jesus tells his disciples the only way to get to Heaven is through Him, life in Him. Eternal Life is Jesus Christ. If we have Him we have Eternal Life, if we don't the wrath of God abides on us. Thus to eat and drink these things is to be formed of God, to be made new, to be filled with his "life's blood" Which defines the Spirit of God. If we would have three square spiritiual meals a day, what kind of Christians, would we now be. Who knows, how much we could have become in Christ with such appettites? Yet Christians are like those who are anorexic nervousa, having eaten a small portion immediately throw it up! We need to feast spiritually at God's table. We need to eat the Word of God daily moment by moment!

If to be good you have to eat Jesus's flesh and drink His blood then you can drink God's piss without flinching eh?

Cause CONN IGGULDEN said captured ROMANS including Julius Ceasar sometimes Drank their own piss to survive. And JC was deified so drinking piss was their God.
