Maybe I haven't done a real good search online, but I've tried, and mostly what I get is people trying to make a buck off of me by performing the service for me. I just want to go down to a courthouse, fill out the paperwork on my own, and pay for it. I understand it may be a lengthy process, but does anybody in Orange County California have any idea how to go about this?

Go down to your local county courthouse. They will be able to provide you with the forms required for the change of name.

The link below has the official California forms for changing your name. Select "Name Changes" from the drop-down list.

Start with NC-100, the instructions are on the second page.
