Do you want pure breed cats or mixed breed?

The best place to go is Petsmart when they adoption days. They usually have cats from the Animal Shelter for sale, or you could just go down to the local Humane Society and adopt them.

Remember to figure in the costs of having them spayed/neutered and their shots if you do get kittens.

As far as breeders go, I would recommend speaking with a local vet in the area as well as look up local breeders online. I have one Himalayan I bought from a breeder 10 years ago. He's beautiful, but his fur requires a lot of work. Also, many pure breeds have medical problems as a result from too much over-breeding. My Himy has dental and respiratory problems caused from the flatness of his face.

My 3 other cats are all rescues and I got them as kittens. There are so many animals out there that need good homes.

Right now most humane societies are the best "bargain" in acquiring a cat. They have been spayed or neutered, a vet has examined them, they have had shots (upper respiratory and rabies), with kittens they have been wormed and started on their kitten shot series, they have been tested for FIV and Felinue Leukemia (the older cats too).

You get all this taken care of at about half the price that these things would cost on the "open" market.

Here are some tips when shopping. Bowls: - don't buy plastic, they can carry bacteria - stainless steel, ceramic, etc. ask long as it's NOT PLASTIC Food: - don't go to Walmart or grocery stores. Go to pet specialty stores for high quality food. If it's low quality, you're going to have to pay the price through vet bills...LOTS OF VET BILLS - some good brands are Wellness, Orijen, or ones that don't contain very much grains. Raw is also a good diet for cats but you must also remember to suppliment - read the labels. I would avoid grains, I mean, who has ever seen a tiger or lion graze in a wheat field? These are some tips and many other users have already given you an idea of the necessities.

You don't have to buy cats unless you just wan tot or want expensive breeds. They are free in every city, and county in the country.
Your best bet is to look in the newspapers(especially those small weekly free advertizers. They always have them free, and usualy a lot healthier than pet stores or the County Human Society.
The city or county animal shelters or what ever them call them there does not take as good care of animals as private owners, and usually the ones form the animal shelter have a better chance of being diseased. The reason is so many animals stay in the same cages for weeks before being put to sleep or adopted out and are there fore more apt to be diseased.
If you get one from the shelter be sure and clean it good when you take them home, and have them checked as you would one from the streets.
You could put an ad n the local newspaper, or online on which ever site there is for local news,(there is usually one in every city
web site. Most walmarts stores have places to ad for something like pets in their stores. Just before an adult meets who ever has them and checks them out as it is dangerous ot give people your address.

inform everyone you know that you are looking for 2 kittens and you will surely end up with enough kittens to choose the ones that you want. especially in the summer months when kittens are abundant. just don't go to Petsmart. I have 2 cats from there that are horrible. the 4 yr. old one bites and the other i got at 12 weeks old acts like it was starved to death. you can't leave any food sitting out or he claims it . but, do remember that they will be your friends for life so be choosy and get the right ones for you. my cats are little little devils but i still love 'em

Buy???!!! Unless you're wanting a purebreed, kittens are free. Check the newspaper. Talk to the owners and meet the mom and dad cat (if you can). Ask the owners if they have taken the kittens to the vet yet, what vaccines they have had, and if they have been checked for parasites yet.

Animal shelters or streets. There are many baby kittens out there who need a home. And they're free too. Putting price for animals sounds horrible to me, sorry.

why by them if you can get them for free, there is always people with kittens or cats to give away for free, check different pet shops,i know my answer does not answer your question but whith out looking in different places it's hard to know, plus you might be living far from where i live, plus when you get older and ready it would be a better time to look for the kittens or cats the prices might change.
