Er, no. The "mark of the beast" was an oblique political reference to the Emperor Nero -- that's the whole explanation for it being described as "the number of a man" in Revelations. John was a political enemy of the Romans when he wrote that book; he had served time in prison and the book was basically a diatribe about how awful Rome was.
However, because Nero wouldn't have had any qualms about intercepting private communication or torturing prisoners, John was forced to encode his anti-Roman diatribe in a way that only he and his fellow cultists could understand. So he used a form of numerology, in which numbers are assigned to the letters of words. If you add up the numbers of the characters used in the original text for Nero, they total 666.
And let's face it, if your people were being made war on by a foreign ruler who put you in prison without trial, tortured you, confiscated your communications without warrants and enslaved your entire nation and faith to increase the wealth of that ruler's empire, you'd be pretty pissed off, right?
Good thing nothing like that can happen today.

I thought of that myself. However, I got to thinking you do everything with finger prints. Especially cashing checks. The Verichip would be the one I would never even used. I wouldn't use it because I would worry about injection something into my skin causing an infection. In the bible the key word is "in" not on. The other poster said it your choice. Some one could force it into your hand or forehead without your knowledge. There already do if you are prisoner in Mexico. United State will never give up is Sovereignty without a fight.

No, the mark will be "in" the forehead or hand. This certainly is a precursor of "the mark". Also, the antichrist has not yet been revealed nor the other parts of scripture related to that fulfilled, so that time has not arrived--yet.

Have you seen this technology yourself, or just heard about it? I find it hard to believe because once at work they tried to do a fingerprint id on nurses to access narcotics. It never worked well, you had to press really hard and have absolute nothing on your fingers. Some peoples never worked. That would be scary to trust that kind of system with peoples financial info.

No.
In the Garden of Eden God said "Don't eat of the tree in the middle of the Garden...." Adam and Eve did.
It was a clear choice. The Mark of the Beast will be a similar CLEAR choice where it is CLEAR that in TAKING IT, you are disavowing God. You CANNOT BE TRICKED INTO TAKING THE MARK.
Nor can someone be ignorant and take the mark by accident. IT WILL BE A CLEAR CHOICE.

could be interpreted as much, everyones information stored in their fingers (or on a chip in them), doing away with national currency and leading to a worldwide currency (another sign of the end times according to revelations). yah u could interpret it at that, but there have been signs of the end tiems since jesus was here. =\
