If it's at the core of all religious beliefs anyway, why not just do away with all of the middle men and get back to the source?

IThere is a saying I cant find who said it< but relgion is what protects man from having a direct experiance of God. It is the filter. Now some people are ready for it most people arnt and if your not ready you will crack up. The Bagdavada Gita, Arjuna was ready, and his chariot driver revealed himself to be Lord Krishna. Arjuna asks that Krishna reveal his true self and Krishan only did because he was ready, only A GOD can worship a God I forget who said that too. Most humans who are stuck with lobed ape brains cannot fathom nonduality. Imagine no opposites try thinking in non linear time.
"the best things cannot be told" you can not talk about what lies beyond the reach of words.
The second best are misunderstood because they are your statements about what cannot be told they are misunderstood because the vocabulary of symbols that you use are thought to be references to historical events.
Third best is conversation. politics economics." Heinrich Zimmer or Joseph Campell or both I dont know
Unless your born A God. we have to learn the symbols the sad part today is that people have stopped teaching the symbols they just give up and say this is history beleive it or burn. There like diners who go to a resuarant and read whats on the menu and then eat the menu.
I have found a church and we try and talk about the first best things as much as we can. We also try and experiance the first best thing by helping feed children working to spread love for the earth and other things that help us feel what words cannot describe. The truth is that the churches mosks and synagagues are the only ones who are feeding children and taking care of the poor.
People need people God works and speaks through people no man is an island.
I need to focus on whats good not whats bad and IF I look for the good I will find it if I lok for bad I will find that too. Its all about whats in my head.

Excellent question. But unfortunately, it negates the fundamental reason behind organized religions. Power. Thus the middle men and the need for controlling the masses. If it were really about love, all the money collected in the name of religion would have been used for good. Instead it has been used for many nefarious purposes.

Love has come to mean everything from a friendly hand shake at the church door to elicit sex. What does "just plain old love" mean to you? Jim

In a lot of neopagan systems, Love is regarded as the ultimate cosmic spiritual power. I view it as that, and as such, it can be used for both good and evil.

good point. i totally agree. and if you think about it every religion is basically the same, a person or entity at the top and a group of leaders underneath and followers below that.
