I'd take out a 6 mo policy then cancel when yo don't want it anymore. They will no doubt send a notice to DMV and you'll have to go from there. It usually takes a lot of time for DMV to react and send you some hate mail.

No one will want to sell you a policy for two months - the length of policy will depend on where you live. Sometimes they are six months, sometimes a year. When you are ready to cancel it in two months or so, you can do that, though. There will be a cancellation penalty, however, usually about one month's premium.
