Actions speak louder than words.
Do you make obeisance before statues of Mary? Yes you do.
Do you pray to Mary? Yes you do, Even though you may say you pray through Mary, the Hail Mary uses no such words.
Do you carry about images of Mary? I know at least four Catholic women that have 8x10 glossies of the supposed Virgin in their purses wherever they go.
So you say you don't worship Mary, but you do everything in regards to Mary that other religions do to God alone or perhaps God and Jesus. Whatever your internal thought process, your external forms all say you worship idols, you worship Mary and you practice necromancy when you pray to the dead saints.
It's all nonsense to me, but no outsider can reasonably conclude Catholics are not worshipping Mary, your protestations not withstanding.

The praying to and worshiping of humans is forbidden by the Bible. Most people see Catholics as idol worshipers. How do you think Mary is going to intercede with God for you? She was just the vessel used to bring the Christ to his earthly form. This should be blessing enough for anyone, right?
Don't forget, your "saints" are decided on by regular men; the choice doesn't get sent to the pope by angelic special delivery. Also, most of your most ancient saints have been proven to be nothing more than disguised pagan Gods, changed to make incorporating the pagans into the church easier.

I would have to agree in that I think the Bible is clear that we should only pray to the Father. I recall Jesus said pray "our Father,..." Every believer has the same standing as everyother believer; We can not pray to our beloved departed. The speacial part that a believer has in the salvation messaage is different for different people and everyone has a peice of the puzzle, notice some in Mary's day knew when Jesus would come, the approximate time. Others historically took part in metaphores of Jesus, such as King David, Joseph, ect... The fact that Mary gave birth to the son of God is just one small part of the good news, and she is not elevated above any believer. Only Jesus is elevated above the believers.

Because Catholics do worship Mary.
I'll ask one question to prove my point....
Have you ever prayed to Mary?
If you have then you are engaging in worship of her.
Jesus said plainly that there is only one mediator between man and God and that is Jesus himself. Offering prayers to Mary is a form of worship.

Because it sure looks to the rest of the world (not just protestants, but atheists too) like you guys worship Mary. People tend to believe the actions they see over the words they hear.

Most people don't really research other faiths. Just happily follow their own. I suppose many Catholics don't understand some parts of Protestantism. It works both ways. Just try to ignore it, or tell them in a way that doesn't get either group defensive. Cultural things like religion are hard for others out of that culture to really understand. So go easy on them.

in most Catholic churches I have been in Mary is exalted above the Crucifixion and she is holding the baby Jesus.
The Virgin Mary was proclaimed co-redeemer with Christ by Pope Benedict XV in 1922
The Assumption of the Virgin Mary into heaven was proclaimed by Pope Pius XII around 1950
Roman Catholic Cathecism teaches that Mary is a sinless co-Redeemer. "Without a single sin to restrain her, she gave herself entirely to the person and work of her son; she did so in order to serve the mystery of redemption with Him... being obedient she became the cause of salvation for herself and for the whole human race" (494).
Contrast that with Scripture: "For you know it was with perishible things... that you are redeemed... but with the precious blood of Christ" (1 Peter 1:18,19).
Besides, don't you guys pray to Mary? Prayer is an act of worship. Is she really "full of grace?"

You pray to Mary; therefore you worship her. I have Catholics in the family, and trust me they worship Mary. When will Catholics give up idolatry---stop worshiping dead people and bowing before graven images? And when will they give up this idea that the Pope is infallible----Benedict XVI sure proved he isn't----and that the Pope is not head of the church---Jesus Christ is. And when will Catholics give up the notion that in the hands of the priest the grape juice and wafers are turned in to the blood and body of Jesus? When will Catholics free themselves of a corrupt priesthood and worship Jesus Christ as the Bible tells them to---in the Spirit? When will Catholics start reading their Bibles instead of relying on the priest to tell them what to believe?

Because some people (protestant and otherwise) are too quick to judge based on something that they HEAR.
there are alot of people are walking around just repeating what they heard from someone who heard it from someone who didnt know what the heck the were talking about.
alot of protestants believe that atheism is devil worship too, and you cant tell them any different, no matter how much you argue with them.
just ignore them.

The Christian Bible(regular) says not to believe in idols. when Catholics put up statues of Mary and and pray to her that is considered worshipping. Who cares worship what you please as long as you don't hurt others and are happy.
