Hi there...fleas have a lifecycle which makes battling them frustration, however there are some inexpensive and alternative solutions, however none are as effective as using either Frontline or Advantage directly on the pets which are ideally the best solution. You can purchase these directly through 1800 Pet Meds http://www.1800petmeds.com/cat.asp?LV=10.
For some supplemental over the counter solutions consider sponge bathing a cat by using a damp washcloth with Pert Plus (not plain Pert) daily for a week...The human shampoo Pert Plus kills fleas but has little or no residual effect. In general, if a product contains pyrethrins and the label states that it is safe for cats and kittens. http://greyhound.marinar.com/html/faq.shtml (See section Special Medical Issues - 3rd paragraph).
http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/breeds/greyhounds.html#smp (fourth paragraph)
Products containing Pyrethrins are generally safe to use... Additionally, the human shampoo Pert Plus kills fleas on the cats, although it has little or no residual effect. Lather, wait a few minutes, and then rinse.
Be sure to thoroughly rinse all shampoo residues so that the kittens do not ingest as it may still be upsetting for their sensitive systems.
For around the home use Borax (boric acid) on the flooring found at any grocer or drug store...kills fleas both by causing dehydration and by acting as a stomach poison in a matter of minutes. In laboratory tests boric acid damaged sperm and caused miscarriages. Just sprinkle and vacuum up and repeat two weeks later and if necessary a week later for added insurance. http://www.pesticide.org/fleas.html (See section Less Toxic Chemical Controls)

Get a lavender spray/ pwder that you put in the 'problem'areas after trating again with a flea powder. Make sure you are leaving the powder on for the recomended amount of time. The flea pwder I have found that works best is the Seargents, and that has to be left on the floor, brushid into the rug for 24 hrs. Fleas hate lavender so I know this works, I use it. Unfortunatle if you have a hybrid flea (dog-cat flea x sand flea) They can be especially hard to kill. The drier your house the harder for the fleas to hatch, and the easier to kill. I have had to wait till freezing temps to kill the hardy ones, and that was a flea bomb then air out with freezing temps for 4-6 hrs. Hope this helps.

Flea bombs, the more expensive ones, you have to do it more than once. I bought this stuff called Archer IGR over the internet (horribly expensive, $65 for a bottle of concentrate) which makes it so the fleas cannot become adult biting fleas. It is only toxic while it is wet, so you can use it in the house. I still had to flea bomb the house after that stuff too. Basically, the only thing that worked for us was bombing over and over. Good luck.

You need to go to your vet, or buy a bottle off the internet, of Staykil. You will need to then thouroughly hoover your house. Then you spray loads of this stuff into carpets, but NOT onto leather sofas, and leave for half an hour. Then hoover thoruoghly again. This is the most efective way there is.

Another thing you can place around the house is eucalyptis. Michaels or some other craft shop should have some that is dried out and you can place near corners to help prevent them from coming back.
It sounds like you might be having trouble getting all the eggs. Treat any and all fabrics to include bedding, clothes, and furniture (don't forget the underside).
Lastly, get your pets some advantage droplet treatments from your vet. Best stuff out there and works for a month at a time.

take your cat(s) to the groomer and get them a flea dip, nail trim, wash.. just like us humans, cats love to be pampered!! or just take them out back and ....... no , seriously, take them outside and give them a bath. BOMB the house. especially the rooms that the animals tend to stay in most. wash all necessary fabrics/clothes/towels/bedding in hot water and run the vacumn over the place a few times. air out the place, bring the cats back in, and enjoy!! Serves 3 people!

I have used borox detergent on everything to kill fleas... carpet, furniture(leather it won't hurt it), closets... u name it put it there. It worked for me and it was cheap. After you sprinkle it everywhere leave it for a week the vacuum it up.... If it still seems like you have them I would do it again. I hope that helps. It has worked for me.
