I'm offended that it even is a question. Where do all the Protestants think the Bible and any knowledge they have of Jesus came from
To even ask is to stomp on the backs of the Martyrs and the saints who sacrificed their very lives to bring the gospel message to all the World.

Perhaps some are trying to distance themselves from things like the crusades (the wanton murder of arabs for profit, or todays unchastined acts of sexual perversion) and so they say I'm not a catholic I am a chritian. who (christians who say they are protetsant) Unbeknowst to them have also been led down the road of comiting atrocities by some fellow saying he was a christian and then commiting open acts of oppresion and aggression like say oh i dunno Bush
The problem is this pure and simple for as long as anyone can remember christian leaders have not encouraged their followers to read the Bible (catholics befor well even now) The Bible was not even translated into languages other than latin for centuries.
Here's a tip to pass onto "christians" there are directions to hold each other and your leader to be accountable and they have not told you and why do you think that is. Here in this forum I have raised the question why do christians not hold their leaders accountable and while some said yeah why not---many said oh you can't do that and you must have a problem pray about your problem. My problem is I do not like being grouped with people who do not do their homework and follow leaders they should have ex-communicated years ago. sorry many of them were catholics study the history.

I agree. Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.
There are some minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.
With love in Christ.

well, as the nicene creed says there is one catholic church...
there is no difference in catholic and christian, but a lot of protestants believe that catholic only means roman catholic.
it is in this ignorance that they make these type of remarks and ask these questions.
when somebody asks that, they are really looking to know something that they call denomination.
yes, i think its silly, but just give them an answer they can understand.
I'm anglican, and i tell them that, and if they want to know what it is, they can look it up.

when u r a christian u believe in the belief of the bible u belive in the trinity and so on. where as a catholic believe in the saints and they worship saints and the pope .
after christ died on the cross the romans wanted control of the jews so they formed the catholic church to have control over them. if u look at the book of revelations it talks of the fall of the false church it give u food for thought with everything thats being going on with that religon for example the priests who have being indicted for sexual abuse and so on .
im not trying to cause controversy im just calling it as i see

They're certainly NOT the same thing. I have oodles of reasons why I say that. I think your questioning that question makes YOU look silly.
A quick example of why, from the Scripture:
1 Timothy 4:3 (A-KJV)
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

You are exactly right. "Catholic or Christian" is an illogical statement since Catholics ARE Christians.
