I sometimes find myself drinking several shots in a night. I am never able to eat while or just after drinking. I think maybe my body thinks it has eaten already.

Alcohol has calories/carbs but is not considered a food. It's a beverage like water. You might say a smoothie is a beverage but it's not!

But I have a question if you eat FIRST does it fool your body into not wanting a drink?

I am on the LA weight loss plan and a beer counts as a starch, so yes alcohol does contain food groups. Starch, sugar, salt...etc. I think you need to eat first, then drink.

With all of the yeast ,barley and hops in beer it could be considered as liquid bread . The reason that you feel full is because the alchohol is turned into sugars .

you mean like, if you're trying to watch your weight? alcohol is metabolized in the body like fat. if you're drinking beer, because of all of the grains etc in it you need to add a starch (carb) in there too.
