Sad but true that many, not all, feel that way. I was raised Baptist and my Grandfather thought I had joined in league with the Devil when I chose Catholicism when I was 14. How sad. Many feel we are not true Christians.

To begin I would like to say that your assumption about Protestants is generalizing and stereotyping - How incredibly politically incorrect of you!!!
But to answer your question, and making the assumption that Protestants think they are better then catholics, Protestants think their better then catholics, because they are human. All humans, whether they are part of an institution like the church or not, regard themselves the superior of any other humans which doesn't form part of their group. It's part of this sad thing we call human-nature.

As a Protestant, who is married to a catholic and who has raised my daughter as a catholic. I have to say that i don't think i am better than catholics. What i don't agree with is many of the Catholic churches practises, such as confession, praying to Mary and the Saints. The reason i agreed to raise my daughter as a catholic was because my husband practised his religion whereas i did not and it was important to him. I teach my daughter that the church is not the be all and end all, what is important is the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I am a Protestant and I do protest your question *smile*. I don't think I'm better than anyone. I do believe that much of the Catholic doctrine (praying to Mary and the "saints", purgatory, holding up a "pope" as Christ's emissary on earth, etc.), is unbiblical. That's all.
Regards,

Catholicism is a religion that's basedon scaring people into submission and is rife with corruption and perversion.
Protestantism was invented by Henry the 8th because Rome wouldn't let him divorce,so that's just a made up version of something that was deeply flawed to begin with.

They think that some catholic practices are heretical. For instance, they mistakenly believe that catholics "worship" Mary and idolise the saints. So they don't think catholics are christians, but rather heretics and will burn in hell.

People who are against chatholisism, (ie. me) are only against it because of the awful baptism of babies and their non doctrine related things.
I am not above you.. I just have my own understand...
And I don't bother protesting.

Because they are. Actually I would say that you are making a generalization based on an incorrect assumption. I think everyone is motivated to believe that their religion is the truth.
