Catholics were Christian before any of the other sects were even thought of. For some of these latecomers to turn around and tell Catholics they are not Christian is like hearing of a community of Americans settling on a tiny island in the Pacific and years later turning around and telling the rest of America they aren't Americans. These people need education like they need oxygen.

Religious people love to bash each other's beliefs. Even within "Christian" churches, you will often find that Pentecostals and Baptists do not agree. I have heard lots of them diss the other side -- and yet they all claim to have God working in their lives and they all claim to be right.
So, it's the same for "Christian" and Catholics. It boils down to who can use their influence to get the most money from unsuspecting future converts!

Not at all, we have much in common: our humanity, our faith in Christ and our charity among others.
Catholics were not the first Christians. The Jews who followed the Apostles before Cornelius were, and after them the Greeks. It was a long time before there were ever Christians in Rome, and those were prisoners or slaves. It was even longer until Rome had a bishop, and that bishop has never been universally agreed as the supreme ruler of Christianity.
So while we accept Catholics as brothers, we do not view you as either masters or the originators of the one faith.

Catholics follow the Pope and tradition over the Bible. Christians believe in the Bible as the sole authority. Catholics follow a "works salvation" believing that by doing good deeds, sacraments, baptism, etc. that they can "earn" their way to heaven. Christians believe in faith in Christ and Christ alone for salvation--that works cannot save a person, neither can baptism. The first Christians were not Catholics; the Catholic church was not around yet.

Exactly. I can't understand how people can say Catholics aren't Christians. I mean, Baptists and Lutherans and Pentecostals are Christians... but not Catholics? Are their beliefs THAT different?

Because many Catholics and Christians oppose each other. One says confession is good, the other bad. One is for stem cell research, one against. They even agrue with each other, as you well know Adam.

Christians go by the new testement and the Catholics go by the old testement. Not to mention, they pray to Mary and God said not to do that. There will be no other Gods before he. The Catholics don't practice what Jesus said. The judge and therefore, the christians have a problem with that.
