Mine started to come in right after I turned 16. I'm almost 18 now and I only have the top 2. How come the bottom teeth haven't started to grow in? How long does it usually take? Is barely 16 the right age for them to come in?

Hi, the average age for wisdom teeth to erupt is between 18 and 25 years. This is REALLY average. Some people get then earlier and most get them later. Some people are born without 1 or more of their wisdom teeth but the only way to know this for sure is to get some xrays done at the dentist. Some peoples wisdom teeth never erupt and can stay in the jaw and not cause any problems at all.

Mine didn't come in until I was 20. I had four. Some people only have 1 and some people have all 4. It just depends. I would say that by 22 you would have "all" of your wisdom teeth.

An x-ray by your dentist will probably show how many you have. SOme may be impacted.

I was about 17 when they first started coming in. At 19 they started hurting like hell. The top ones were in but the bottoms just kept trying to come in. It hurt so bad. I got headaches from it. Finally i went to the dentist and he said my bottom ones were growing in sideways, so he pulled the top 2 out and cut the bottom ones out. Then he gave me Loratabs and I was sore, but the pain pills helped a lot.

late 20 for me .By the wasy the bottom ones are harder to take out beccause theya re in the jaw bone ,the top ones just sort of snap out. Anyways i got one left on the bottom and i get them taken out one by one but thats just me. Im scared to remove this last one beacause by the time yout 37 their even harder to temove oh boy. Ill need two weeks off work because their going to have to break the tooth and saw into the jaw bone and dr socket hurts like a bat out of hell.

Everyone is different so just relax. Mine started at 14 and by 16 I had all four. My brothers didn't start until he was 17, so be patient.
