lol....Yes the day is a very long one and yes the couple can get very drunk and end up passing out....But I could never pass up having sex with the one I just married...Plan your night at the Hotel, if you two pass out you always have the morning to make up for it! Congrats!

Traditionally it is a big thing because in Christianity we are taught that sex is for the marriage bed, not before. So naturally people choosing that would be more than excited and anxious for such a first. If you decide to consumate your relationship before marriage or whatever you want to call pre-marital sex, then I can see no significance to the wedding night. The only change that takes place on your wedding day is legal. You may have waited to promise fidelity on your wedding day, but those are just words anyway. I think this whole premise is a sad indictment of our society today. I do wish you the best in your marriage, though.

That story is almost as funny as the person the other day that asked if anybody had sex AFTER they were married. How ridiculous!

Sex on your wedding night is a must. You have to consumate your marriage. Maybe that's just an excuse for him to not have to so that he can get drunk and pass out. That's a shame. I'm sorry for you.

The reason why couples wouldn't have sex on their wedding night is because they're exhausted from all the partying at their wedding. They have plenty to do during the day and most of the time, they're too drunk or too tired to have sex. Imagine if you have to get up at 6AM the next morning to get ready for your honeymoon and your wedding ended at around 1-2AM?

Only about 40% of couples still have sex on the wedding night... They're usually just to tired for those things. Hell, I was to tired my husband was to drunk! Don't worry the next day is still wide open! All day!! So Make it count!

I don't see why people should have sex on the wedding night. I see it as a pressure instead.

Being too tired and drunk is also a very logical reason not to have sex that night.

It might be true that a lot of people don't have sex on their wedding night but i never knew anybody who anticipated that nothing is going to happen i mean, even drunk and everything it would happen oh yes!!

If he's anticipating not having anything, then you may want to ask yourself why he's getting married for a 3rd time...the other relationships may have ended badly for that reason: no intimacy. Sure, it happens that newlyweds are too tired and may go to sleep, but I don't think that's ever planned. You need to talk to him about this.

Good luck!

What an odd thing for him to say? Why on earth would he not be hoping to make love with his new wife on their wedding night? I've not heard of anyone 'planning' not to make love on their wedding night. Are you sure he's the right one for you?

I've heard that before too! We were tired and a little tipsy, but we were also totally stoked to be married. Heck, yes there was sex!
