Voice "brew" that I learned early in my musical theater days:

• Start with 1 pint of boiling water.
• Add to it 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
• Pass a regular tea bag through it for one minute, then sip/drink it as hot as you can stand it.

It really soothes, repairs, opens up, and restores. It may sound gross, especially with the salt, but tall of the ingredients play a role in helping you regain vocal strength. It really works!

My voice teacher told me to drink Slippery Elm Bark tea whenever I had a sore throat and had to sing. You can get it at GNC. I would also put honey in it. Watch out for lemons, because the acidity is not good for your vocal chords.

Also you can find throat sprays and lozenges at health food stores that yopu can use immediately before you have to sing.

Also - drink lots of water that day, all day to keep you hydrated.

I think you have just overextended your vocal chords, and rest is the key! You can also gargle with warm salt water; just regular table salt is fine. I have also found that soaking in a warm bathtub with the humidity helps, or if you don't want to do the tub thing, just get a bowl, put in boiling water, add some cold water to it, and put your face in it, with a towel over your head. My Mom used to do this with me and it works to help ease your sore throat!!! Good luck with your singing!

Go to the drugstore and get a package of Meloids. They have a lot of licorice and soothe sore throats and have had me singing when I have lost my voice entirely

I am a singer of over 10 years (on the road, classical, and rock/r&b).
You need a lot of water,
try inhaling from steam (teapot, or humidifier...)
no speaking, shouting, or whispering (these can do more damage for you than singing, when you are sore.)
Finally get 8 hours rest...your body needs to heal.
these methods got me through a lot of tough times...good luck

Get some fresh lemons and make lemon tea with plenty of honey in it. It has always helped me when my throat was worn out from singing. God bless!

warm tea.. drink often and rest your voice.. if you can't sing.. then don't.. you'll do more damage than it's worth...
