Steph j has written the only correct answer so far you need a CRB check. You will not get any more information than what he has given. It takes four - six weeks to get the report all employers accept this. You can also get a basic report from your local police station this one will take a week to get it. I know someone who got this kind of police report. Your prospective employer will tell you what kind of report you need. A CRB will only be used for one employer, before you apply for it the employer must give the organisation's number which must then be printed on the application form. The CRB report is valid for a year. If you change jobs you will need to get another CRB. It does cost 30 bucks.

You can go to your local police station and get everything they have on you under Data Protection. Cost is approx £12. It could be illegal for them to ask. If the have the right to ask you then they should be able to get one (with your permission) from Criminal Records Bureau

I don't know what country you are in!
As I understand it, in the UK, if screening is necessary, that is done by the prospective employer who knows the necessary procedures for obtaining searches/information according to the data protection act etc. etc.
If you are elsewhere, maybe your local police or courts or council can advise you.

You call a premium rate number, get through to a call center with civil saff, try to convince them a crime has been comitet, you get a crime reference number, sometime later they sen aletter saying that the "crime" does not warrant investigation.
THAT IS YOUR REPORT. You can't speak to the "police"
If it's for an insurance claim all you need is the reference number.

Private investigators usually have access to that information. Thay generally charge a fee for their services and I believe you can only get your own and no one else!
