See my former boss hired people without getting ss#'s but took taxes out of their pay? Plus no pay stubs are given, so you don't know breakdown of what taxes came out or what you made or paid year to date? You go by what he says. Not even sure if he's reporting correctly. What can you do? I do know of at least 5 former employees that he never gave a w4 to but did deduct taxes ...with no address?? and some no ss # ?? reply please any input will help.

What I'm worried about is how much he is saying i made year to date. I was on clock for 3 months then salary for 4 months then back on clock for 2 months . when i was on salary it did not show how much i grossed just a net pay of 400.00. when i first started I filled a w4 form with 4 deductions then when i went to salary i ask him to drop decutions to 2 but he never gave me a form. When i was back on clockthe ductions where correctly figured at 2 but what will he say i claimed when end of year comes? by the way last year did not get my w2 till middle february and just went by what he said because of no running total.

I recieved checks.( Company personal checks) The only information on my checks where in the memo on bottom of check for the total amount made for week. minus a $ amount for deduction( no explaination on what was for ss or federal or medicare.
When I was paid on salary the memo on bottom of check just said payroll no minus $ amount for deductions.

The employer is required by law to provide the employee with a W4 to fill out. He is required to keep in on file. The former employees should notify the IRS that they didn't get a W2. They are still required to file even without it.
It is good that you are questioning this. He is probably stealing from the employees and the government. You can notify the IRS, they love to find people like this. Your state Labor department can also be notified.
It is always best to keep your own records when you know your employer does not keep accurate records.

How do you know your boss took out taxes? If he didn't supply you with the form (signed by you, and you provided your SS number) for him to turn in then he didn't turn it in and didn't take anything out. If your salary is lower than it should be then understand that you are merely working for less than you thought.
If you don't get a pay stub and you received cash then it's an "under the table" type job and you have to claim your income as though you are an "independent contractor". If you are an independent contractor then it's up to you to claim with the IRS by April 15 the gross amount you earned to the end of the year, what you were paid and you must keep track of that yourself (to the penny), and then you would pay your own taxes at that time.
Maybe people stick with that job because they like the job, and knowing that if they turn in the employer that he no longer will have a job for them, and they need the job...so they're keeping quiet.

Every employer is required to pay those taxes that are withheld from your paycheck. He isn't paying them and that's why he doesn't need your social security numbers. It's not going to affect you any because the IRS will still give you credit for those taxes. They will go after him. He's deducting the taxes out of everyone's wages but not handing over that money to the IRS. I would seriously look for another job.

He needs to give you a W-4 to properly take out taxes from your paycheck. Also, he needs to give you a W-2 to report your total income and taxes that were withheld. All of your other information he already has when you filled out your job application.
This sounds really fishy to me. You should report him to the IRS and you State's department of revenue. Like everyone else stated, you could be liable for the taxes that he already withheld and did not remit.

If you are in a temporary address, use the permanent one - they need to send W-2 forms next January and you don't want them going to a temporary address where you won't be living next year. You need to use a good residential address to ensure that you get your paperwork.

It sounds as if your boss is NOT filing his quarterly taxes with the State and the IRS.
Call your State Department Of Labor
Call The IRS (800) 829-4933 ,(800) 772-6270 they should be able to direct on on what to do.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Something tells me this guy kept all those "taxes" he deducted. This is illegal and could get YOU in trouble with the IRS. Report this situation to the IRS Immediately.

Once you report your income to the IRS (which you need to do whether you have a w2 or not), if you lack a w2 they will begin to ask questions. Tell them who your employer is and they'll fix things right away.

Yeah this is not good. You need to get copies of that, if you are ever aduited for your income, it will be a mess trying to get copies. Then you will get in trouble. Go to him or call the IRS asap!
