That's right! When they say sacrifice, they mean, "SOMEONE ELSE"!

What God in his right mind, (or left, for that matter) would think that a set of rules that would work for a mostly rural culture of 2000 years ago, would work in the 21st. century. An all knowing God would certainly know things would change. God, in Bible said that he is eternal and unchanging. Jesus said, he was not here to change the law, but to fulfill it. Well, we as a nation, best roll back the clock, and reinstate the Blue Laws. We better start stoning people at he city gates, for a myriad number of imaginary transgressions. Best we all start observing Kosher law, how about it folks, shall we take a giant step backwards?

The problem is, that most Christians that I know, and that is quite a few, want to pick and choose the things they want to believe in. I guess Christianity is like a Chinese take out menu, one from column "A", one from column "B", as far as I can tell. Look up what Jesus had to say about going to Heaven. He clearly states at least three times, to go to heaven, you must sell everything and follow him. There is no ambivalence in his statements, sell everything and give it to the poor. For all of you that think that you are heaven bound, think again. I would assume that there are few on this site that don't own anything, few that have given everything to the poor. Or maybe, Jesus, was just fooling, isn't he such a prankster.

Depends on what you are pointing out to them. For example, I will go with the first guy's answer about sacrificing. It was part of the Mosaic Law (the law Moses gave to the Israelites that was from God), but it was done as a reminder that the Israelites (and all of mankind) needed a savior from sin. When Jesus came and died for our sins that reminder was no longer needed. And in fact, the Apostle Peter had a dream in which he was told the Mosaic Law was no longer in effect for the followers of God (at least if the Bible is the correct one). So while God didn't change the circumstances involving humans did, so the law of God changed to adapt to the changing circumstances.

So there are times when the Bible says something we are no longer required to do, but the Bible tells us when that is. If you choose to believe in the Bible, then read it completely so that you know when these times are.

i understand precisely what your speaking approximately. i'm a Christian yet because of the fact I actual have been 'sucked in', with the point to speak, whilst i grew to become into youthful with the help of alternative 'religions' claiming the actuality, that i'm getting frowned upon each as quickly as in awhile as quickly as I question others. yet i do no longer question the Bible as much as I question and study different peoples viewpoints for the time of the scriptures. human beings, even some that decision themselves Christians or maybe are nicely meaning, are very judgemental. i think of they get wrapped up interior the incorrect difficulty, attempting to show out others 'incorrect thinking' and for this reason they do no longer discover time to verify there own. a million Thes 5:21,22 21. instruct all issues; carry speedy that this is powerful. 22. Abstain from all visual attraction of evil. and then: 2 Chronicles 13:5 study yourselves, despite if ye be interior the religion; instruct your own selves. understand ye no longer your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, different than ye be reprobates? My factor is that if we don't ask questions and learn all the adjustments of ideals, how are we to understand what's 'good' or 'evil'. So we ought to try this for ourselves, no longer others. God will handbook you as you improve in Him. draw close in there and basically attempt to understand that the pains we bypass by way of will instruct to make you good and clever.......and affected person. : ) good question and God Bless

Well the thing is, someonf the things in the first testament don't matter anymore. God says some of the cnages in Matthew. So if it was somewhere in the old testament then they had a reason to say that. But i think u guys muight be talking to either fake Christian or something cuz i know i don't don't that and i know my friends and the ppl in my church wouldn't say that.

Yes, they do have a tendency to pick and choose.

What bugs me most is the statement "God said it, I believe it, that settles it." First it was written by people, then translated by other people and finally, interpreted by more people. Interpreted in a variety of conflicting ways, too. We can't forget that all those people involved were human, not divine, and therefore subject to error.

Some level of independent thought IS required, no matter how easy and convenient it is to hide behind an institution.

Yes, they refuse to keep to the food laws i. e. no pork, no meat in cream sauce etc, they don't want to send the billy goat laden with their sins into the desert, they wear mixed fibres, all things of the old testament, I admit, but they also refuse to live by the most important commandment in the new testament, i.e. "Love your enemies, do good to those that hate you..." and as long as they refuse to do that, they have no right to call themselves Christians, even if they are baptized.

I believe that most "Christians" like to think they know the bible because their preacher tell them what the bible says but most "Christians" only open their bible on Sunday and maybe Wednesday night if they are in church.

They are just making excuses so that they can keep doing what they are doing. What the bible says never change and bc it is God's word, He or his word will never change. They need to go back and try it again.

I have noticed a lot of the Bible seems to get explained away. It makes it very hard to take their religion seriously. I guess it doesn't look so shady to insiders.

Yes, all of the time. They have a way of selectively using the bible verses to prop their warped beliefs.
