Here is how you re grip your clubs, and there is no messy glue.
1. Secure the shaft in a vise near the tip of the grip, ( you can purchase a club vise at your sporting goods store for about $60.00 ) or you can protect you shaft by wrapping it with protective material. Keep the Club Face perpendicular to the floor. Heavy point pointed down.
2. Remove the old grip by using a straight blade (razor) to slit the length of the grip and peal back. Always cut away from yourself ie. never pull the blade towards you.
3. Hold the new grip next to the shaft to measure how much grip tape to apply ( not cement or glue).
4. Apply your grip tape ( some call it Build up Tape) on the shaft you may need to double wrap if you are going to a oversize grip. Wrap using your standard 2" or maybe you like the 3/4" grip tape in a spiral formation from the TOP of the shaft to the point where the grip ends at the base of the shaft (head). Remove the tape backing (the liner).
5. Stuff the excess tape in what is called the vent hole, ( the butt hole) of the shaft and cover with your thumb as you wet the surface of the golf grip tape with soapy water.
6. Pour a good amount of the soap and water soultion into the grip, place the grip over the shaft butt and push the grip until it is firmly in place and there is no more room at the butt of the shaft.
7. Let it set up for about 24 hours and then beat the hell out of the ball.
Good luck.
By the way, I use Gorilla Grip by StukOnTapes.

The way I did it many times years ago was..
Cut off old grips. Clean the shaft under the grips. Wrap double sided masking type tape around the shaft where the grip will be. Hold the new grip so that the small hole on top of the grip is covered. Fill the new grip with gasoline. shake it a bit, dump it out and quickly slide the new grip over the taped shaft. You have a a short time to adjust the grip while its still wet. After that let it sit over night..
I repeat this was many years ago..:):) equipment has changed a lot, but mostly in the shaft and head. so try it on a practice club first.
good luck

Very simple. Put the club in a vice with the club head facing straight up to hold it in place. You need to put a piece of rubber in the vice so it doesn't damage the shaft. Take a razor knife and cut the old grip off. There should be a piece of tape under the grip that you need to peel off. Clean the surface. Get double sided tape and run it the length of the grip down the shaft and fold it over so it goes the length of the grip on the other side as well. With a small bottle of gasoline, saturate the tape to get it wet so your new grip will slide on. Put a little gasoline in the new grip and shake it, leaving the gasoline in the grip to slide it on the shaft. There should be lines on the top or bottom of the new grip indicating where you should line the grip up with the club face. Set clubs aside in an upright position and don't swing for 24 hours.
