If you work or live on the third floor of a building and have access to both an elevator and stairs, do you take the elevator or stairs on a daily basis? not counting the times you have a heavy load of groceries or couple of toddlers of couse.

Why do you take the elevator? You cannot walk up the stairs? It's faster? or the stairs are dangerous?

Why do you take the stairs? to be healthy? more fresh air? or faster?

Before I developed a problem with my back and knees I would take the stairs because it is faster and for the exercise. Now I take the elevator if it is more than one floor and my knees no longer have much strength since being operated on and I have also a lot of back pain now. Ahh for the good old days.

I used to live on the third floor of an old apartment building. Most of the time I would take the stairs, because the building had an old and cranky elevator, and occasionally would stall between floors. The only times I would ride it, was when I had a huge load Of stuff, that would make the stairs awkward, or when I noticed one of the many cute college coeds waiting for it. (No, I never got stuck in the elevator with one, but hope always springs eternal.)

It all depends on that day whether I'm alone or with my wife,
kids and shopping items.
If I'm alone, I'll rather walk up the stairs for some quick and
easy exercise of the legs and heart. I would take about 3 mins
to reach the 7th floor of my apartment and this way I feel good
about it. But with my family and bags of shopping items, I
would then take the lift. It's more convenient and faster too.
(not the waiting time for the lift, but the travelling time in the lift).

I would take stairs. because of other people with large loads, stairs would prabably be faster. However, I know a cousin who lived in a 10-floor apartment buiding with only one slow elevator. He wanted to take the stairs, but they were fire exit only.

Stairs for sure. Its good exercise. I would only take the elevator if I was feeling tired that day.
