I've heard about two people getting married while snorkeling...and about two people on horses....two people in a hot air balloon.....in a jet......bunjijumping....on jet skis.....
you can get married on a beach, on a golf course...in a gymnasium...in a park...on the grounds of some exclusive old stately home or restaurant.

okay an old covered bridge in your area old buildings can sometimes be used check with the historical sociaty in your area hire a wedding corindinator they will be able to help u pick original places and may have resourses open to you that u don't have also local parks recreation centers some banks have areas that they rent out a friend of mine got married and had her reception at the local chamber of commerce building the landscape was beatiful and the indoors had a large party area local resturaunts that are only open during the day sometimes rent out for weddings in the evening . with friends that have gotten married or that have gone to weddings for unique places. vineyards apple orchards or even a local farm haouse mey be willing to host a wedding sometirealty companies will rent a house for speacial events espeacially if the house has been on the market for a long time or hasnt rented in eons if there is a club or dance hall that is closed on sundays or during the wek they may be willing the extra income also golf courses sometimes have clubhouses or your local veterans or american legion s have nice venues sometimes this requires a membership or knowing someone with a membership also check with local arts and heritage associations ( they are usually the ones putting on plays locally ) they may have a theatre area that would be useable for a wedding and or reception. parks camping areas are good but may require permits if there is a dam in the area this is a good natural setting but again check with local branch of army corp of engineering as they usually regulate activities in those areas. also ask your florist they deal with tons of wedding sites for delivers and may be able to suggest some things also bakers and caterors they can also give you a little insite about the ease of getting there and any rules concerning catering or deliveries that might intrfere with your big day. the best advice is to know what kind of budget you have and ask around get on the phone and spend a day calling around for price qoutes and let them know what your budget is some will be willing to work within your budget and some may give you other options if they can't work wihin your budget depending on the time of year and how popular weddings are in your area some buisnesses may appreciate the extra income

Think of your favorite location. Is it an amusment park, a state park, a nice hotel? The options are limitless. The key to planning a beautiful wedding is to tap into your favorite things in life and build around those things. Your wedding day is meant to signify the connection with your spouse.
My wedding (last November) was at a funeral home. You can laugh, but the chapel was part of a beautiful post civil war era mansion that was once used for a college. We had Karaoke instead of dancing and everyone thought the night was beautiful.
Check with local museums, historical homes, etc. The options are limitless.
Hope this helps~~ :-)

You can always get married in a park. I went to a wedding once on a boat and that was fun. My in laws travel with Phantom of the Opera, and told of a wedding on the theater stage! There are lots of places. Find a visitors guide for your city. That could give you ideas! Good Luck!

Think of things the bride and groom have in common and go from there. I"ve heard of couples who have had weddings on a football field, at a rodeo, while scuba diving, on a boat, in an airplane, while skydiving and other places I can't think of right now.
How about in a park, in someone's back yard, at the beach, the school auditorium or gym, a community center, the local pool, a skating rink.
The possiblities are endless.

Not knowing area where you live...how about beach, park, backyard. How about a winery? Are you and your fiance sports-oriented? Here you can rent out space at the football stadium. How about a boat/yacht on the lake/river, etc or a museum? There's also a really pretty area called "The Rose Garden" here at a local cemetery that quite a few couples have booked for their ceremony and/or reception. So maybe you could look into something like that.

If you want people to attend, you have to take into consideration their physical abilities. For instance, if you decided to get married on a mountaintop, would everyone be able (and willing) to hike up there all decked out in tuxes, gowns, suits, and dress clothes?
Try a state park. Someplace beautiful and accessible.

We had ours at a botanical garden. It was very cheap and more romantic than a wedding hall. Very good backgrounds for pictures too. The only problem was that they limited alcohol to beer and wine.
