To be perfectly honest, as a Christian, I would not be in the least bit offended if a Buddhist walked up to me and said, "you need to be saved by Buddha" (thought that's not what they believe). If that is truly what the person believes, they should have the right to speak it, and I shouldn't be offended or feel insulted by someone sharing their opinion. If they feel my beliefs are wrong, more power to them to say so! In fact, I want to be open to the opinions of others because I know I could have something wrong and the best way for me to discover where I might be wrong would be for someone to mention it to me. If I feel they're wrong I would just tell them so or tell them I'm not interested. It's really quite simple, and most people respect that.

The sheep factor. People are sheep. I have no wish to save anyone or preach on anyone. So what religion did u choose? Theres so many out there. I thought wicca was interesting but I don't want to do all those riturals or buy all the equipment.
That's just how Ministers are. Hundreds of years ago they tried to "save" Native American's not listening to the views of others. Also just plain stubberness I guess.

I understand your frustration but you have to remember that a large percentage of the populous are stupid and hateful. There is unfortunately nothing that we can do about it.
And Yahoo Answers is an open forum. At least they don't allow profanity - that would be really ugly.
What I'd do, if I was asking a serious question about spirituality, would be to just ignore the responses that start "You will burn in hell unless you..." You get the picture.

America also has freedom of speech. And some people don't know that they need to be saved. (Christian viewpoint). if some buddhist walked up to me and said that I'd say something like " I'm not interested" and walk away. you don't have to listen to it. most churches will back off if you don't want them around.

For Christians, it is our grand commission to teach. Sometimes saying nothing says volumes. Honestly, a true Christian cannot hide their light under a bushel. Those that scream it honestly in their hearts believe that they are doing what they are called to do. Don't take it personally. It's done in love (most of the time).

Sounds more like a vent than a question....shouldn't this be on your Yahoo 360 page instead?
Chippy, the verse you quoted means not to judge other people's sin, because we all are sinners. It doesn't mean keep to yourself and never try to talk to anybody about your beliefs.
Many people have good intentions and are just misguided. Others use religion as an excuse to act out or judge other's, no matter if they are Christian, Islamic, or anything else.
It's also a 2-way street; there are just as many atheist who reply to religious questions by saying the person's beliefs are stupid. When it comes down to it, how we act it isn't the fault of any belief, but a result of our own chosing.

i agree. a majority of these people apparently ahvent heard the verse. "why pick at the sliver in anothers eye when you have a log in your own" meaning go worry about urself if the question doesnt pertain to you, all you do is piss people off by telling them to believe and they need to be saved or they go to hell, especially when they dont believe in your nonsense. perhaps we should return the favor and just sit there throwing out why the bible is wrong to every question regardless to what the question is.?

Hi Candy,
I myself don't truly believe that people don't believe in God. I think that people just don't want to accept the fact that things have to change. I think people get angry with God, and therefore say they don't believe in Him anymore. Just because someone says that they are a Christian, doesn't mean that their thoughts and actions are right. We all make mistakes, we're human. The "real" Christians just want to let people know that you have to accept Jesus into your life to be truly saved.

I agree. It's frustrating. If I want to look at bible verses I would dust off my old bible (which I have read). Is it too hard to just answer the question honestly without passing judgement?
