I walk my kids for half an hour to school and back each day as the local school is sh**e, and Id never give my kids chips and pop for dinner! (shine halo, shine! lol)
They are probably too thick to help with homework if they are doing all the rest of the above!
People like that should be sterilised at puberty...

Uhhh...I'm a bit puzzled as to why you think these parents "don't care", when so many kids endure much worse treatment from their parents than not getting pop and chips! (beatings, incest, rape, neglect, torture and even being murdered)
If you really need help with your homework, maybe they're not able to give it--ask a teacher or someone else you know. Some schools provide tutors.
I don't get the part about driving to school...are you angry about it or what? Be grateful for what they do...unless there's something you're not saying...???

What's wrong with chips and pop? There a lot better than the garbage they serve at my school cafeteria.
But, thereis no excuse for not helping with homework. That is something that every parent should be able to do.

My parents a little extreme on the caring side. I'm 20 years old and still have a curfew! Sure they don't tell me what to eat and all that. But parents drive their kids to school, cause they want to make sure they got there ok. Kids are getting kidnapped outta the schools playgrounds!

You just know those parents taking chips to school are getting some thing on the side. Delivery cost? They're kids, they'd pay anything for chips.

You can`t judge a parent cause they drive their kids to school, or don`t help with homework. Love is the key, yeh, i know what you are saying, i read to my kids every night, feed them on tons of veg, fruit etc, but my biggest offer to them is love. My kids are so loved, and they know it. All a child needs to bloom is love, junk food, etc, no, not good, but that dosen`t mean they are not loved, circumstances, work, time stress etc, may make some parents not as responsible to their kids as others, but they might still get the love, and that is what`s important!!

seems like they are showing care in the wrong way; :( that is really sad. as parents, their responsiblity is to teach their children how to grow up into Good, Responsible, Caring, Healthy, Positive people....and what they are doing has NOTHING to do w/ any of those things except "happy" ----> but we all know that all the things that make us happy now are not necessarily positive or healthy (chips and soda, fast food all the time, drugs, alchohol, can make us happy NOW, but definitely not good for us health wise). so u have to put all of those things togehter : Healthy, Positive, Responsible, Happy.... then u'll teach them good things.
good luck to us all when we become parents... we need to learn from our parents mistakes, and mistakes of people around us.

I am disgusted with those parents taking chips to the school gates!
How will those kids ever learn? And who will foot the bill when they are all overweight and suffering ill health because of it? You can bet your life those parents wont take the responsibility of their kids being fat, they will just blame Jamie Oliver!

It is a sign of the times, these parents do care but they bend to pressure and do anything to keep the children off their back, !! it makes life easier they think. Long term they are building health problems for the children and making a rod for their own back, when they realise this it will be too late,!!!!!!

its really quite sad really - driving their kids into early graves must be a new parent trend - i could never do that to my kids (when i have them) its just horrible...
i used to walk over a mile to school and back every day, and only had free school meals, so i had jacket potatoes or something like that everyday... chips and pop are crap for kids and make them fat - if not now, then one day it will.
