I suggest learning spanish, it is more useful in the US. Take a look at www.wikipedia.org this site has some nice links. Good Luck.

Spanish and Italian do have a lot of similitude because they are both romance languages and the are based in the Latin language.
Spanish is my mother tongue and I learned Italian at school. I suggest you start with Italian and then, give Spanish a shot.
I think I talian is less complicated, Spanish verbs and structures are really really difficult, so, if you start with the one that is more simple, then you will have a nice advantage when you want to study Spanish.
Regarding the web sites, you can google something like "free italian lessons" or "italian tutorials"
I've been teaching spanish to a 60 year old Ukranian friend and he's really good at it because he can compare to italian words (he speaks french and italian also)
Good luck

I studied both, and I preferred Italian, though Spanish might be more useful, in more countries I mean. I don't like the Spanish pronunciation, well because I just can't pronounce it like them lol. Italian is very beautiful and rich. There's ofcourse a big difference between the two languages, they're two very different countries, though it's true they have some similarities. It all depends, do you want to learn it to add to your knowledge and well brag lol then I'd go for Italian, if you want to put it to use, Spanish might be better because there are more places where Spanish is spoken...Me, I'd go for Italian. Italian is just alot of fun to learn :)

Well there is a difference between the 2 languages. I would say learn them both if you can. But, I would have to say Spanish if I had to choose one. It seems to come in handy these days. I would suggest www.learnspanish.com to get you started. Most of the basic things for beginners is free on there.

I dont know about sites but Spanish is a better langauge to learn because more people in America speak it and besides dont you want to know what Mexicans are saying when they are talking and looking at you laughing.
