We recently went to the Isle of Wight and stopped at a pub for tea. My son had 'Children's not hot Chili' and loved it. I am now searching for a recipe - can anyone help please. It appeared to have sausage and veg and baked beans in it plus much more. Thanks for your help.

1 lb bacon, cut up in small chunks
4 lbs ground beef
4 (1 lb) cans canned kidney beans
28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes (Hunts has them spiced for chili)
12 ounces tomato paste
2 onions, finely chopped
4 ounces chili powder
4 ounces cayenne pepper (dry powder)
2 cans beef broth
2 fresh tomatoes
2 jalapeno peppers or serrano peppers
3 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon oregano
1 1/2 tablespoons paprika

Fry the bacon until it starts to brown, then put it into the crockpot.
In the bacon drippings, brown the ground beef.
Put the ground beef, beans, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, onions, chili powder (In Southern California we have a great variety available, but Gebhardts would work), and the cayenne into the crockpot with the beef broth.
Cut the stems off the fresh jalapenos and cut them in two or three chunks.
place the peppers along with the garlic and whole fresh tomatoes into a food processor and puree the three ingredients.
Put this into the crockpot, stir to mix and let it all cook for 10-12 hours on low or 5-6 hours on high.
By making a puree out to of the peppers and garlic, you get a more evenly dispersed blend.
I used the tomatoes to give some moisture to the puree.
Serrano chilies are three times hotter than jalapenos so don't let their small size fool you

I make this for my kids. Make regular chilli, then portion out an amount for the kids and dilute the sauce with a basic tomato sauce-like the kind you use in pasta, not very Mexican I know but if you do it like that it saves having to make two different recipes and the kids still get some of the flavour. Don't know what your kids tastes are like but mine like tortillas and fajitas so I tend to serve them alongside chilli.

Follow any chilli recipe but replace the chilli powder with cumin powder. This gives a spicy flavour, but is not hot.

In fact when I make chilli, I use both Chilli and cumin powder because the cumin rounds off the hotness of the chilli.

The key to children's chili is to add sugar. (1 tbl.) Kids will love it. Don't put any onions or peppers in it. Substitute with onion powder and celery. Use light kidney beans instead of the dark kidney beans.

not hot, no point. most children can take chili hotter than you thin, but if you must give them bland food just cut out the chili, or replace hot chili with milder chili, you can recognise these they are much larger than ordinary chili's , they are red and have a chili flavour without most of the heat.

Ever hear of sweet n' hot chili. You put brown sugar in it and that cuts down the hot side. Good luck!

just cook your chilly as you normally would, putting in any ingrediants you desire. when it comes to the chilli bit, dont use chilli powder, instead use a mild chilli burger relish. this makes it sweet 2 taste.
