I have a mad crush on my primary care doctor too. He is married, as am I. We are both flirtatious, and always have a great banter going. I'm thinking (pretty certain) there is chemistry there too (and I'm not delusional, and I have never been attracted to any other doctor I've had in the past). I once complained about my libido, and he asks me about it every time I'm there now. But even if we were both unnattached, I see no way possible we could act on anything because of that whole doctor-patient thing, the oath he took, ethics, and his fear of possibly losing his license to practice medicine. So.....I just go there, flirt, he flirts back, and that's all it will ever amount to.

I am an MD. I will be honest and tell you that my medical license was suspended for 2 months over something similar to this. I think your emotions are normal but unfortunately you cannot act on them without getting the both of you into a heap of trouble, your doctor more than you. Your doctor may well be attracted to you but I should warn you that MD's generally make lousy husbands, and their divorce rate is much higher than the national average. This is because they work far, far too much, and never seem to have time for the personal side of things. Their kids often grow up to be spoiled brats who get involved with drugs and other undesirable behaviors. If your own marriage is a failure then start looking elsewhere for the opposite sex. Once you find a more realistic partner then your desires for your doctor should evaporate. As to dropping your current doctor, that is up to you but I would probably continue the relationship, but keep it on a purely professional level.

Hmmm, does he make you uncomfortable? If so definitely find a new Doc! Or, was he really checking your posterior or did you interpret it that way, because of the fantasizing??? Hmmm…. I know how difficult finding a doctor is… I’d give it some time, your thoughts about him very well may fade… and oh well something to laugh about in the future… keeping it to yourself is mandatory, there is nothing wrong with fantasizing… consider looking around and finding a different face to put in fantasies – like a celebrity or complete stranger...

I have been attracted to some doctors myself but one really needs to recognize it for what it is and not act on it. It sounds like you have read things into his actions that are not meant to be that way. If he's good, keep him, and stay in check and live your separate lives. Throughout life you will meet different people you feel an attraction to but you just recognize it and don't act on it if it is not appropriate.

No matter what society is doing it would be adultry; change doctors. Remember what Joseph who was sold into Egypt did when Potifer's wife came onto him? He turned and ran. I suggest the same for you. But the ultimate decision is yours, just remember this, the consequences of your actions you will not be able to choose or control. Is it truly worth it?
