Is it poor manners to ask guests to address the envelope for their thank you card?

My baby shower is this weekend and I was wondering if it is in bad taste to ask the guests to fill out the address part on the envelope in which their thank you note will be sent? I've been to two showers in the past few months were they did this, but my immediate family just keeps track of who bought what and then addresses the envelopes when the notes are written out. What are your thoughts?

I don't think so I think that people will understand especially if the baby shower is given by a close family member that this will say time just give them the envelops you can even make it a game like the person who address has similar numbers to the baby's due date will get a small gift but don't tell them until after they finish. Unless your guest are really uptight I don't think they will mind. Anything that saves time!!!!!!!

i do not imagine this is tacky. I did that at a toddler bathe at the moment and easily theory it develop into an staggering theory. It saves you quite some time and capacity, you recognize you've the right handle, and this is really effortless for the travellers to placed in writing their personal handle once! Now, i comprehend that you at the on the spot are not chuffed about them being addressed in pencil, in spite of the undeniable fact that it would want to be tacky and impolite in case you probably did not use the envelopes. in basic terms use them or hint over the pencil written handle in pen.

Why don't you get them to sign a guestbook instead? When they do so, you can ask them to kindly write their addresses in as well so you can send a thank you card.

Other people may have had the guests fill out the envelopes, but its rude and tacky, and it doesn't mean that you should do it too.

Oh My what a great idea this actually encourages people to send thank you cards! and you have addresses of people you might not know. I think it would be important for someone other than the new mom to annouce doing this, as in a game or something. Wish I had done that, maybe I would've got more thank you's out.

At my sisters baby shower, everyone was given an envelope when they came in, and was asked to write their address on it, and that's what we used for our thank you cards. I don't think it's tacky. Especially if you use it as one of ur games, like the other lady said and pull one and give her the door prize.

We did this for one of my sisters showers. After everyone had filled out their address and put the envelope in a basket we drew one out and that was our doorprize winner.

The guests obviously got an invitation to the shower, so you know you have their address. (And if you send out evites, you have their email address.)

Why don't you just ask them to write out their own thank you notes as well?

If it is a shower that will have a lot of guests that are middle aged or older I think that they won't get it and definitely think that it is bad manners. But I think that if it is a shower with a bunch of young people they probably won't think twice about it

That's tacky. You should have a guest book & some have a section for the address. You can later get their info from there to send them thank you cards.

oh i dont think it matters. I wouldnt be offended if you asked me to address my envelope. At my shower i have to call and get everyones addresses so it was a hassle.....i like jilldanie's idea!!
