If Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in the existance of hell then why do they knock on our doors recruiting members? I thought their goal was atleast to try to save people from damnation, but now I guess it's all about the numbers!
PS:
This assumption is in response to Rachel's earlier answer to the "committing suicide & hell" question:
... Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in the existance of hell, we do not believe a Loving Father would condemn his creatures to such a place, especially if the sin the commited was due to a mental illness. If you are having suicidal thoughts please seek help, from a qualified source.

They believe in a "paradise on Earth with God" for something like 144,000 fortunate souls. Now if they were smart, instead of trying to recruit new members to take all the available spots, they should go door to door of other J-dubs and try to DEconvert them, to leave more room for themselves.

I am whats classed a very poor excuse of a Jehovahs Witness. I could therefore sit here bleating about how everybody else is wrong as a Witness, but I can honestly say with my hand on my heart , they are without doubt the kindest, most loving people you will ever meet, if you give them chance. They are not weird or have wacky ideas. I am a scientist a care worker and a wife. I am not prone to suffer fools gladly and I have always needed proof to believe anything. They are the only people that have actually proved to me what the bible is saying.
If you don't believe me then ask away any biblical question.
I don't think I will be in the new system, but I have nothing but respect and awe for true christens.

Good point...I was always taught growing up as a JW child that everyone who didn't come to know Jehovah and get baptized as a Witness would be destroyed like what happened with Noah's Ark supposedly how people didn't listen to him when he said the flood was coming and only those who listened and came aboard were saved. But, JWs never tell you where you will go to be destroyed. Their Watchtowers and brochures in the past that I remember has depicted people falling off cliffs and mountains, some hiding behind huge rocks and the like when Armageddon comes. I don't think they know themselves. I guess you'll just stay in Hades for eternity while everyone else supposedly lives forever. I just never could grasp how someone could live forever, wouldn't life just get boring? Well, whatever, that's why I formed a personal relationship with God and he knows I have a good heart although I have some bad ways but I feel that I do not have to go to church, a Kingdom Hall or go out door to door to attain salvation. I have given my life to Christ and he has already died for our sins. God knows I witness for him any chance I get and I'm not a part of their religion either anymore, I just know what's right and what's wrong.

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door primarily because they feel it is their duty to "save" a householder. In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Jehovah's Witnesses go door to door in order to recruit more cult members who donate more money to an already filthy rich organization. I believe they use mind control, telling their young members it is a waste of time to go to college because the end is near. Even though the Bible says that no man knows the day or hour. They have been saying this kind of thing since the 70's. Once recruited,I believe these members are elitist because they go around saying that people who have done much good for mankind will be "destroyed" by God because they did not become Jehovah's Witnesses. One told me that they believed Mother Theresa would not get life because she did not become a Jehovah's Witness! Who is anyone to judge for God? They even refuse to help one another. Let me give you an example, I know of a case where a woman and man were visiting a local congregation at a Kingdom Hall with their 14 month old son. It was in the middle of winter and their van would not start because the battery was dead. She told me, that all of the church members went home without even offering to give her husband a jump. This was in the middle of winter and it was extremely cold outside. The last one to leave told the mother she would have to wait outside with the baby since they were locking everything up. They were forced to wait in the cold till one of their relatives arrived to jump the van. Not my idea of Christianity! I believe they will have to answer for a lack of compassion one day. The identifying mark of a
true follower of our Lord would be love....not lack of love and kindness.

How can this God of love bring judgment on anyone? The book of Hebrews 10:30-31, says, "It is mine to avenge, I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge his people. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." The Bible also says in 2 Corinthians5:10, For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." The Bible says ALL so Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT exempt, no matter what they think.

I believe they use mind control techniques that keep them isolated and the members feel an enormous guilt if they want to socialize with anyone who is not a Witness,(other than to conduct studies). There is so much that bothers me about these people. I do believe they are a cult. Do not want to offend anyone ...this is my personal belief about this organization.

We are not trying to "recruit members." We are simply doing what Jesus told his followers to do: "Go therefore and make disciples." (Matthew 28:19) What did Jesus do while he was on earth?? He preached about God's kingdom. We're supposed to be following his example are we not? We preach because we love our "neighbor."

As for everyone thinking we are a cult....we're NOT. A cult is a religion that is said to be unorthodox or that emphasizes devotion according to prescribed ritual. Many cults follow a living human leader, and often their adherents live in groups apart from the rest of society. The standard for what is orthodox, however, should be God’s Word, and Jehovah’s Witnesses strictly adhere to the Bible. Their worship is a way of life, not a ritual devotion. They neither follow a human nor isolate themselves from the rest of society. They live and work in the midst of other people. If it ever crossed your mind that Jehovah's Witnesses might be a secret cult or sect, that was likely because YOU knew too little about them.

As for the comments made by shesorawinduval...I don't have a clue what you're talking about. I've been a JW for almost 20 years and I've never seen any Watchtowers and brochures depicting
"people falling off cliffs and mountains, some hiding behind huge rocks and the like when Armageddon comes." I think you are sadly mistaken. But besides that, when you're only 15 you're not going to understand things the way you will when you're older. Perhaps now that you are older, it might make more sense to you.

The 144,000 are the ones that will be resurrected to heaven to be "Priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him for the thousand years." (Revelation 20:6)

Now I have a question for you.... at Psalms chapter 37 and verse 11 it says: "But the meek ones themselves will posess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in an abundance of peace." Then it goes on in verse 29 and says: "The righteous themselves will posess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it." Now my question is...If everyone is either going to heaven or to hell (as some might think)...then who will be here to "posess the earth and reside forever upon it"?? Think about it.

Hello TeeM and wenz! Keep up the good work! May Jehovah always be with you.

Jehovah's Witnesses go door to door in imitation of Christ, spreading the good news about Jehovah. We are commanded do to this in the Bible. Matt. 24:14 "And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."
Our goal, as you put it, is to teach people Bible truths straight from the Bible. We want to inform people about God's promises, that there will soon be an end to this wicked system of things.
We do what we do out of love for our fellow man, not because we have a quota to fill.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in a fiery place of torment for the wicked.

Adam was told from the dust you were taken to the dust you will return.

Immortality is a reward for faithfulness. Eternal death is the punishment for unfaithfulness.

Life or death is before us all.

We go door to door because we love Jehovah God, and our neighbors.

The love of God means to obey his commandments, 1 John 5:3; Matt 28:18,19

We do not force anyone to change their religion, we loving show them what the bible says, then it is up to the individual to choose life and keep living or to choose death. (Matt 7:21-27)

I'm not sure what you meant by numbers, but Jesus said cramp and narrow is the road leading off to life and few are the ones finding it.

It's not about dollars either, cause Jesus said we received free therefore give free.

Jews don't believe in the Christian hell either -- it comes from Zoroastrianism.

Jews believe that all the righteous of the nations have a share in the world to come. It's Christianity that condemns most of humanity to hell. Your kind and loving God sent his son to earth to die an excruciating death on the cross for atonement of your sins. He's returning to get even with all those evil Jews.
