Beagles were bred to 'give cry' when they are hunting - which tends to be all the time even if they are just following a scent around your home. They do bay, bark and howl naturally. From the National Beagle Club of America -
The normal, active Beagle will bark when strangers arrive, at the neighbor's cat or trespassing wildlife, and at strange goings on in the neighborhood. But beagles in general are not nuisance barkers, unless given good reason to do so. Beagles can, on rare occasion, become prone to howling if they are left alone for long periods of time and become bored. As a result of their hunting heritage, beagles may be quick to bark when they discover an intriguing scent, and will “tongue” (produce a baying sound) when in pursuit of their quarry.

My Beagle did not mind being left alone for long periods of time. They can bark like any other breed of dog, and of course when they start hunting, they will howl. Beagles make great pets and they will also put food on the table if you are hungry.

some dogs do and some don't.
you have to train your dog.
For instance let the dog know that you love it sooooo much.
Kiss the dog, hug the dog and feed it and give the dog biscuits.
make sure you have already walked the dog, fed the dog, gave the dog water and treats.. Then when the dog goes to the bathroom and has all of it's toys then you can leave to go to work or whereever.. Also, I keep a radio on or a tv going so the dog has some feeling of not being alone.
my dogs only barks when I leave and when I come home.
Other than that they are fine..
Also, I got another dog to keep the other dog company..
I went to livedeal.com and got a dog for a dollar.

Beagles bark all the time. They are very good dogs. They will definitely let you know if there is something in the yard. I love beagles. One thing you should know, they have a very distinct bark and everyone will know whick dog is barking. But like I said, very awesome pet... very loving and great watch dog.

If the dog is alone does it matter? And if there isn't anyone there to hear it how do you know he's barking? But really, as long as he doesn't answer his own questions he should be ok.

It really depends on the individual dog. If it's been trained to not bark then it probably won't, but if it has separation issues it very well could.

Hard to tell if it is alone, but maybe have a neighbor monitor the house for noises while you are gone, or put a tape recorder somewhere so you can listen later.

They can bark too.
And yes they are sort of barkers.
My neighbors had two ofthem and they used to bark at everything and sometimes at nothing at all.
