I walk a lot, around 5 km per day but lately its been raining here so I start cycling while I watch tv but after 5 or 10 minutes my knee starts to hurt that doesnt happen when I walk.
The bike is in the lightest position, why my knee hurts?

Adjust your position - raise or lower your seat - make sure that your knee is only slightly bent when extended.

You may want to get that checked out,the knee is one of the first parts of your body to be strained which in a short time can lead to arthritis, doctors have always said after research's have proven this,it's one of the reason they recomend not to walk up and down stairs for excise and it puts to much strain on the knee from being jolted all the time and it ruins all the cartilage in the knee, and with cycling is the same but just grinds the knee.

A couple of cycling related things that might make your knees ache are:
- When the seat is too low it put's alot of stress on the knees.
- If you wear shoes that lock to the pedals and the fit isn't right, it can cause knee issues.
- Pedaling is a difficult gear can cause extra stress.

Address these things first and go to your local shop and get a bike fit. If you're still having problems, I'd consult a physician familiar with bio-mechanics.
I hope this helps.

Knee strain. You might have a touch of arthritis that could be causing it. Weather changes and changes in barometric pressure tend to cause people with arthritis to suffer joint pain like you are describing.

Unless it is a recumbent bicycle you're also doing harm to your back as well.

hi.this could be because of a soft tissue injury/inflammation of knee.It can be cecause of tendonitis, synovial tear or inflammation after chronic excaution after prolonged walking. In rare cases, walking strenghthens a specific set of muscles and using the supposedlt weaker set causes pain,Do strengthenung of leg muscles and try cycling with less tension/load.

You are flexing your knee more. Muscles and joints are working in ways they are not accustomed to. If this continues over several weeks; seek medical advice from physician.

Could be two things: You may have too short a pedal stroke. You have a ligament inflammation (bit like RSI) Loads of stuff on the internet about it! Google.

It sounds like you're over doing it and stressing out your knee too much.
