Why do dogs eat grass?

My dog got sick last night and afterwards ate alot of grass.

I don't know exactly why, but my dog ate grass every time it got sick too. I think they instinctivelly do that and it does them good... it has some therapeutic value, either as an agent that causes them to throw up when they ate something they shouldn't have or need to clear their stomach, or maybe there's some other value to it.

My dogs have always done that. I have been told that if a dog has a "stomache ache" or have eaten something bad they will eat grass. Sometimes my dogs will also throw up after they eat the grass it seems to clean out their system so to speak. My vet said it was normal just to keep an eye on it.

some people believe dogs and cats eat grass to settle their stomachs if it is upset. I have had many dogs in my life that has done it too. So I have noticed that normally they eat grass if they throw up or prior to throwing up. It may sooth the stomach --- I guess.

This is also a sign that your dog is wormy. I have had dogs all my life and it always seems to be that if you give a dog that is eating grass a worm treatment, they stop. Good luck.

So they can take a large green crap on your lawn. Clean it up! Remember they are stupid, they would eat a turd if you put catsup on it.

well the same reason cats eat catnip..my mom says its healthy.. my dog does it too i think thy think it tastes doog
