Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. ~Albert Einstein
Truely man is the king of beasts, for his brutality exceeds theirs. We live by the death of others: we are burial places! I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look on the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men. ~Leonardo da Vinci
To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body. ~Mahatma Gandhi
A veteran USDA meat inspector from Texas describes what he has seen: "Cattle dragged and choked...Knocking ‘em four, five, ten times. Every now and then when they’re stunned they come back to life, and they’re up there agonizing. They’re supposed to be restunned but sometimes they aren’t and they’ll go through the skinning process alive."

If I knew the animal suffered I wouldn't eat it. The thing is we won't really know how the animal died most of the time. I don't think anyone or anything should have to suffer. That is really sad if that is true that animals are suffering. You would think there would be some sort of humane way of doing it. If there is a so called humane way.

Humans are biologically intended to be omnivores ... eating plants and meat. You need look no further than our teeth (designed both for tearing meat and grinding plants and grain), our intenstines (length halfway between sole plant eaters (very long) and sole meat eaters (very short) to know that we were destined to eat meat. So ... yes ... I'd still eat meat, but it's nice to know that humane methods are used so this question is a moot point.

That's HORRIBLE!!! I'm working my may into a vegetarian lifestyle. I feel better when I eat fruits and vegetables, anyway. I'll NEVER stop eating things like dairy products and honey (those things cause no harm to animals, so I wouldn't be vegan). The thing I have a hard time giving up is seafood--I practically live on shrimp, scallops and salmon.

Yes, Suffering is part of existance. I prefer to not have animals suffer any more than necessary. Although, animals kill others and eat them, the prey often suffers terribly. Go figure

It is hard for me to type holding these ribs but yes, I would. I would also eat it if it did not suffer. I have incisor and canine teeth designed for tearing meat. If I were meant to only eat vegetables my teeth would be like other herbivore animals.

no. in the jewish religion, we have the butcher kill the animal in a specific spot, in order to minimize the suffering. if it is not done properly, with a trusted supervisor, we cannot eat the meat.
