kk, for all of you who think that homeschoolers don't get enough "socializing" LOL I've had tons of friends ever since I was little and it had nothing to do with the fact that I was homeschooled. :) I have been all my life and trust me, I've had a whole lot of socialization. That goes for all my homeschooled friends too. We're all part of plenty of groups out of our homes and there we meet a ton of people (both homeschooled and not). :)

Sorry, to rub ointment in this group hug folks but I do correspondent courses on-line at home. I started in Gr.8 and now in Gr.11... and I don't necessarily e-n-j-o-y it. It's all right, but I had to start this by my parents choice, if only they gave me an option. Since I don't look at this in such flowery way as others may, my counterparts find it essential to flog down a dead horse - so to speak. On the down side, it robs a lot of social life.

However, it's at your own pace and there are teachers who take the time to help you out.

Funny thing though, a lot of fellow classmates at my public school became jealous of me. Weird, but I guess they like the fact that you don't have to get up at a specific time. And no teacher to boss you around... sort of :)

Having said that, you get more education by homeschooling and I really like that part. I'm a natural writer and artist, and I've got a few career plans up my sleeve. So... it's great to not be exposed to drugs and youth violence. I live in BC Canada.

Hmm... good luck in your future endeavours.

Stay safe. - Maryam

EDIT: You're right, I'm connected with 9000 students. And I have field trips, more then the average public high schools do. Take care.

Our oldest daughter is in a homeschooling program now. Our 8 year old is not yet but we will move her in the next couple of years. I think she still needs to build a network of friends at school and learn to handle some additional social situations.

I homeschool my kids. I live in a state that is rated as one of the worst in the country in education. I personally feel that I can do a better job than the schools here.

Socially inept? I know plenty of people that go to school or send their kids to school that are socially inept.

Thats really cool, Ive always wondered what it would be like to be homeschooled. Sometimes I even wish I was homeschooled, you're lucky, public school can be tough sometimes. It has its good points though. Just make sure you get into lots of extracarricular activities so you can still make friends!

Good for you and I hope you enjoy it.

There are far many more now than used to be.

School systems have changed so much and spend so much time on matters that are not relivant to learning of importance.

People often criticize things they do not understand.....such as the Chrisitan viewpoint on this.

Early on history, children were all taught at home and most times by the mother.
Funny how people survived well for their time then but feel it cannot be done now - like parents are morons.

Take advantage of all you can learn - whereever you are.

Wish you much success in school and life!

Trust Him too - He loves you as no other can!

I homeschooled my son. I wish I had homeschooled him sooner than I did. I wish more parents would homeschool their children.

Every home is a school. What are you teaching and learning?

Ironically, most kids get pulled out of public school because of the socialization...Home schooling rocks and is best in my opinion.
