Can both not happen together? I am studying for a degree in human biology which believe me requires a lot of reason, yet I still maintain an active faith as a Christian. Religion is not just about failth - yes it is an important part but it would be a confusing god/God who did not let us use our brains to work out things within faith and in the world in general.

More faith, faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. We hope for it--but don't always believe because of the distractions that we see. Increase faith the more. The Bible speaks of what shall come to pass, so it should not shock you when you hear of these things-you should pray harder for mercy. The things that are upon the Earth are by our hands, we allowed sin to come in by not standing up and fighting for what is right. A nation founded by God has now forgotten Him, until we need a miracle. God is not a genie. Pray when things are okay too, not just in bad situations. Reasoning can't produce anything-but faith can!

Do you mean the reason that led to communism , fascism , relative morality , the means justifying the ends . we are not wrecking the world in the name of faith but rather in the name of greed and materialism borne out of the goals of "progress" and "enlightenment " . The reason for faith is the lack of faith in "reason". Reason has its place and its limits.

Can't the two exist in harmony? I am a Christian, and still I remain rational and reasonable, opn to new ideas and other opinions of other people.
Religion doesn't create any problems so long as the belief system is not promoted dogmatically or the original purpose of your belief is not twisted to suit your means.
Also, what do you mean exactly by reason? You seem to be suggesting an atheistic system of negociation and ideas.

Faith brought us things like the Crusades and 9/11.
Reason brought us the ability to heal some of the wounds inflicted therein.

Hmmm, which do we need more of?

Probably yes, and I am a Christian. There is a place for Faith, but it must be supplemented with something else.

The more we soley rely on Faith, the more we find ourselves on a tightrope where we cannot turn back.

It's wonderful to have faith that is based on fact, which is what I have, not blind empty faith.
We should "reason" using the Scriptures

It should be more faith to go along with reason.

faith in what? we all need something to believe, otherwise life is pointless.

if there was no faith, then theres just no point to doing anything. we can do whatever we like, because there are no consequences, because there is no God and therefore no right/wrong.

we need to believe in something. What you choose to believe in is a personal choice (I'm a Christian) but everyone needs to believe in something.
