I would think so if you have a mental physical illness that dictated the institutionalization, but you have to go to your social security office, fill out the paperwork twice, 1st is an automatic denial. Then you have to go to their approved doctor and have a physical and tell him your symptoms and how it limits you. Then your caseworker will lose your paperwork 3 or 4 times. If you need SSI you need to tell your relatives or caregivers and get started today. It will take about a year to get on average.
