where do you Christians get your information that church is a neceessity? in the bible it says fellowship with christians, not the act of attending church. (you can have fellowship in small groups, for example there are youth groups that meet away from church). Christ even preached against the churches, called them corrupt. the sabbath day is nothing more then a symbol of your willingness to set aside time for christ. (fyi, sabbath day would technically be saturday as that is the last day of our week. however God didnt create everything in 6 "days" these were just periods of time. cause how could you measure the first day when the earth wasnt even made? a day is the earths rotation on its axis. perhaps you guys need to read the Bible more and stop spoonfeeding this false information to people

sorry this post wasnt meant to bash churches, it was meant for those people who think you HAVE to go to church. church is a place to have fellowship and set time aside for God. (all i meant was that its a personal decision on when/where you do ur worship, not a law in the bible)

the 7th commndment says to set a day out of 7 to remember the sabbath day- in other words one day out of seven u thank God for everything and worship Him. The answer to your question is No u dont have to go to church but u still need one day out of the week to revolve around God in your life MORE than the other six days. Which day it is has nothing to do with it.

Obviously, this is not a real question.

Church has never been a necessity. However do not think that this means you don't need to go to church. Who amongst the Apostles belonged to a church? They were busy setting up churches! (And did you note what was written? I'm not sure I would want to belong to a few of those churches after they were set up.)

But don't let that fact keep you from going to a church when you know you should. The key is to listen to God. I know, its very hard. Right now, I'm having some serious problems listening, but I am listening, which is better than I was doing a few months ago.

Note, in Latin countries, the Sabbath is the 7th day. I think I generally consider Monday the first, not Sunday. But we're talking about 7 day cycles, so any day could be considered the Seventh.

Good point about the word "day", and good point about interpreting the Word. However, just because the world could have been created in billions of years doesn't mean it couldn't have been created in 6 days!

I agree with you that church is not necessary to living a committed Christian life. Fellowship with other believers is the necessity. However, that does not mean that all churches are bad! You can't throw the baby out with the bathwater. There is middle ground here. There are a lot of Christians that do hold to the belief that fellowship with other believers should primarily be done in church buildings but I think that they would feel differently if they had been TAUGHT differently. We can continue to worship the way that God is leading us to and have grace for the passionate, sometimes over-opinionated and definitely misled people that try to make us feel guilty in our freedom in Christ. Sow grace and you will reap grace.

Oh - and Jesus didn't preach against churches as there were no churches in his time - only synagogues. I believe he was preaching against having a religious spirit without a real relationship with God, not organized meetings of believers.

I do agree that christians dont actually need to go to a church building since our body is the church.and the building is for fellowship,I agree with that. But perhaps you should read the bible more as far as the sabbath day is concerned.

Colossians 2 :16:17

16.Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17.Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

it's clear you haven't study ed the bible either;if you have then God has not reveled some thing to you yet. first of all a building is not the church people who believe Jesus died for our sins carry the church inside us! the building is only a symbol we as Christians represent the body of Christ the building is a place we meet to worship the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.the word of God says do not forsake the assembly of the saints which means gathering with people who be live in Jesus and do and act as God wants us to do ready for this, the word of God say let every man or woman have ears to hear which means come judgment day you can't say you were not told! You've open the door I hope and pray your ready

A lot of people just go to church and "warm the pews," gossiping about what everyone else around town is doing and getting their gold stars to get into Heaven. And a lot of people seem to think that they are better Christians than those who don't darken the church doorways every Sunday, Wednesday, and whenever else they have services.

But really, this is always a touchy subject among Christians. When you get down to it, what is in your heart is what should really matter.

I do not think that Church (capital 'C') is a necessity. To some extent I think the Church serves its own interests.

I am not knocking church, however. Church is very useful for gathering like-minded people (i.e.: Christians) for fellowship.

The Bible says Forsake not the assemling of yourselves together. DO not put it away. It is like a power house when we all come together that recharges you when you need it, but you can be a help just as much as anyone else. Expect to give as well as receive.
