I too have wondered about the consept of reality. By classic definition, it is a state or quality of being real, actuality, fact and truth. After reading this and thinking to myself, of how the very definition of reality is totally dependant on the perception of ones oun experience. To state this simply, your reality is not mine. So...truth, fact and the rest are realitive? What one knows in ones mind to be truth, may not be so true in the mind of another. Does this mean that truth does not exist, or that there may be several truths to explain a single act or action?
I, and my reality, question the validity...or should I say the relevance of reality and how important it is to our social sanity. Iguess in order to have a society, or social structure, there has to be some kind of order. To have order there must be common truth. Can this explain the chaos we have in government? Our leaders, haveing several truths to choose from have trouble making up their minds on a single truth? How about our court systems? Perhaps the same problem?
It seems to me to all be realitive. Maybe thats not the right word to use...notice the base word real....., real being a definition of fact which, in turn, is a definition of reality, which also has the same root word! Makes you wonder...dont it? I suppose a more correct term would be irrelevant. Sence it really shouldnt matter what anothers truth is, (to thy own truth be true) when considering ones own reality.
Then common truth or common reality is only pertinant when involving the common social animal.
Aho,

Here's a decent answer from Wikipedia,
"Reality in everyday usage means "everything that exists". The term reality, in its widest sense, includes everything that is, whether it is observable, comprehensible, or self-contradictory by science, philosophy, or any other system of analysis. Reality in this sense may include both being and nothingness, whereas existence is often restricted to being (compare with nature).
In the strict sense of Western philosophy, there are levels or gradation to the nature and conception of reality. These levels include, from the most subjective to the most rigorous: phenomenological reality, truth, fact, and axiom.
Other philosophies, particularly those founded in eastern religions like Hinduism and Buddhism have different explications of reality. Conceptions of reality in Buddhism include: dharma, paramattha dhamma, samsara and maya (illusion in Sanskrit)."
I go along with the Sanskrit idea that everything here in earth is an illusion. That being the case, you are the architect/creator of your own reality.

Reality is a concept. Each individual has their own perception of what reality is. IE: you can't have the same perception as your friend would have, because you are not in their mind....
