The difference in type is basic, usually pastas such as spaghetti, macaroni and such are made with semolina flour, water, and salt. Noodles on the other hand are made with flour, water and eggs. As far as taste goes, you are correct that the taste is similar, however when cooking remember that pasta should be al-dente or to the tooth, with a slight snap when eaten, and noodles should always be cooked through.

You answered your own question. All boiled pasta taste the same. The many different shapes are used to create different looking meals, different textured meals. Most pasta meals require a sauce and seasoning.
Macaroni Noodles and Velveeta Cheeze is probably the most common "quick meal". I sometimes substitute Rotini Noodles. Same taste, different texture.

The ingredients and the quality of them makes all the difference in the world. Compare a serving of store brand or creamettes with a serving of organic, specialty or imported pasta and you will taste a difference if you take the time to really compare them.

It's all made out of the same pasta dough. Unless you're talking about egg noodles, or a pasta that has an additive such as spinach.

Most pasta products taste the same because they are the same -- a dried paste of durum flour and water. Egg noodles taste different because they contain ... well, you figure it out. Different tastes arise from different added ingredients.

It's obvious you don't know how to taste the true flavor of things. If you could you would be able to taste the different textures in the pasta, and you would taste the different amounts of starch in each piece of pasta. I feel for those who are too busy shoveling food in their mouths to appreciate the greatness of it all.
Peace

Different pastas go with different sauces. The shape of the pasta is best to hold a particular consistancy of sauce.

They are made from the same ingredients. The only difference are the pasta shapes- macaroni, spaghetti, fettucine, lasagna, etc. The sauce makes the difference.
