Interesting question. The way I like to think about it is, in Genesis God made woman as a helper to man to help him along side by side. Mary I believe was a companion to Jesus thus helping him in his travels.
Married I'm not sure but in Matthew through John in the bible it does describe a wedding that Jesus was at. There it is where his family was the host in the wedding.
There it was a possibility that it was for Jesus & Mary's own wedding. Yet there is no proof or findings to establish that theroy.
